The Equifax check seems to be just a basic thing that doesn't actually check the impact.
Also, if you try to freeze your credit good luck. Each of the three companies are making it incredibly difficult, and TransUnion is trying to sell you their own credit monitoring software if you try to freeze your credit with them. People should be jailed over this.
There are all sorts of companies that collect info that most people have never heard of. There's one that I think is based out of Ohio that collects employee data provided to it by some major retailers like Target, Home Depot and a few others I don't remember off the top of my head. If you fail a drug screening at one company, the other companies know about it. It's very shady. The worst part is, when this company has incorrect info on a person there is almost no way for the individual to get it corrected.Elizabeth Warren is introducing a bill to force these companies to ban fees on credit freezes. I'm sure the consumer minded Senate and House majority will push this through.
I don't recall allowing these companies to collect this data on me to begin with. Seems kinda crooked to sell it back to me or charge me for trying to protect it.
