That's OK Eric, I don't like horses either.
Anybody ever wonder why there are more horses rear ends than horses?

Tough for a coaching to make that a part of his sales pitch when he might not have even met the players in question.

He has to try. It is a selling point that exists. These UT pro-bowlers are getting pretty old as well.

This guy. Always lurking and spouting his negativity. The day I post on a Bama board is the day I move back in with my parents and give up on life completely. Upset that only one Bammer made the squad? Do you think Mcelroy was unfairly left off?

I think Bamawriter bought his dad BCS tickets. Not hard when you live in your parents basement. #get-a-life

Kind of shoots down the notion that you can't get talent here.

It does not shoot that down at all (unfortunately). It only proves that coach Fulmer could get talent here - but that is not news to anyone who has followed UT football for a while. Few of Dooley's recruits may have a shot to make pro bowl in few years as well (CP, Hunter, D Rogers, perhaps even Bray if stars get aligned right in his head). As hard as I look through my orange glasses, I just don't see anyone at that talent level left on next year's team.
By the way, the fact that we are still getting so many players to pro bowl is also a validation of our pro style system that has always been run here (even Kiffin and Dooley did it). However, with switch to spread we are less likely to see QB's like Peyton and Bray, and receivers like Hunter, Rogers, and CP come to UT in the future.

That does worry me.

I'm sorry, I didn't know you were writing the rule book for this board. Should I have responded by saying that Jones has already reached out to many former players? Should I have mentioned that in his press conference he stated that there would be an open door policy here for former players? Something that our previous coach did not allow. Would you then allow me to continue posting? You aren't going to poison some trees over this are you?

Butch Jones is selling Tennessee which, incidentally, these players all went to.

If this player in question grew up watching Peyton Manning play or idolizes Foster/Mayo/Berry it would be a good connection.

I have a fondness for NFL teams that had players there when I was growing up. It's a connection and any connection will be tried by a salesman.

I'm not saying it's not worth mentioning when Butch is sitting down with recruits. I simply wouldn't put it high on the list of bullet points.

I think it is great CBJ is aware of the importance of selling UT tradition. However the issue may be that the Tennessee tradition has been defined by pro style offense and that does not match his system. So if the recruits (QB's and receivers) are even a little bit sophisticated they may question why people like Manning may be brought up to them when the current coaching staff is going to dismantle that type of offense and run something very different (so they may have more success recruiting players like Tebow). My opinion is that this may be one of the reasons why CP, Hunter, and Bray did not even want to seriously talk to CBJ about staying another year (if someone with pro credentials (like Gruden) came here I'm sure they would at least have very seriously considered staying another year.
