Eric Watson and Orleans Opoku-Darkwa

Do you guys think we will offer Darkwa? He seems to have the potential to be a 4* guy.

Which is why I would take Eric Watson over him. OOD is a good back, but he's just not vols material. Before you say look at what we had last year, be realistic. With the staff we have now bringing in recruits, there will be many better RB's on the board. Not to mention we still have a shot at Oku and/or Bryce Brown.

I worry about a kid who jumps from school to school. If he does it at the high school level, is he going to be happy if he doesn't get immediate playing time (which he won't).

I met a senior athlete at Ensworth(Darkwa's High school) and he told me that Darkwa is always talking about UT and is just waiting for that offer. I think we need to offer him bc I think he would commit very quickly and he's a very solid back

I am about two and a half months removed from being a senior athlete there myself, and I can tell you that he is definitely a Tennessee fan. It's not a huge stretch to assume that we are very high on his list, at least in my opinion.

I could see us taking Darkwa and Keon Williams as our two backs this year. It's not really a huge need, but it helps with the locals.

After camping at Tennessee and Louisville, Darkwa hopes that his performance has caught the attention of the coaches from both schools. "I went Tennessee on June 2nd and Louisville last week with my parents," details Darkwa, who runs a consistent forty at 4.53, which he displayed at the Vanderbilt and Louisville camps. "At Louisville's camp, which mostly offensively, but they were seeing how physical I was on one-on-ones and they tried me out at linebacker. They said did pretty well, but I know what they are going to do with that."

also says he is really hoping to get an offer from Army...

IMO, we will hold out and see if we can get a top RB to commit first. If that doesn't happen, I look for Darka or Williams or both to get offers late.

The Williams would be a great pick up. I thought he would be a bruiser of a back when he was at the UT camp.

Darkwa busted off 342 yards and 5 td's on 29 carries against MBA tonight. and he had a slight shoulder separation in the second quarter. he'll easily go over 2000 yards this year.

Not to revive a dead thread, but i gotta say that UT must be kicking themselves for not picking up on OOD. Obviously Tulane hasn't played SEC caliber talent (besides Ole Miss), but Darkwa has proven why he was a Mr. Football candidate his senior year. Not to mention, his off the field presence means alot, if not more, to a program and a coaching staff than his on-field statistics. Great kid, great story. UT might want to focus on getting backs with talent and humility, as right now we are running the risk of turning into the 1990's Miami Canes era type team. (talented thugs that cannot seem to avoid trouble with the law)

who are these backs at UT you are talking about?

and the guy you're bragging about had offers from pretty much no one in D-I. Sorry but you can't compete with that type of talent in the SEC
