Erik Ainge on Petros and Money Show

Unless someone can honestly say they were against the hire from the beginning, it would hypocritical for anyone to resent Hamilton for the hire. When Kiffin was hired, pretty much everyone I knew, including myself, was very excited about it. We also loved the brashness and the "swagger" that he brought. He made everyone excited about the future of our program and gave us hope. He was the anti Fulmer and most Vol fans that I knew at the time WANTED that.

Likewise, everyone loved Dooley when he was hired because he was the anti-Kiffin.

I wasn't thrilled with the Kiffin hire at all. I didn't think he was ready to be the head coach of a big time program like TN. I was intrigued about Monte coming even though Chavis was great.

Once he was hired I got on board because what choice did I have. I was still very skeptical when he played not to get blown out in the FL game and choked away the UCLA game. UGA win was nice but Fulmer was doing that on the reg too. Bama was somewhat of a turning point but in reality Saban did not coach his best game and it had nothing to do with what was going on on the UT sideline (remember the 3 forced attempts to Julio Jones on the goal line?). The ole Miss and bowl game was down right embarrassing.

I didn't really fault him for taking the USC job but I was pissed at how he left trying to take recruits that were already on campus with him. Ultimately I was glad he was gone though.

I hated the Kiffin hire. I didn't like the Dooley hire, but then Justin Hunter committed, he got Wilcox to come and swung Da'rick Rogers to switch from Georgia, so I actually thought things would be okay.

Needless to say, I resent Hamilton quite a bit.

Bet you regret that username you picked out.

The Kiffin part? I'm guilty.
The Dooley part? Not so much.

I do, too. Just feel like the show would benefit from a hint of professionalism. Ainge needs somebody to reign him in, not encourage and perpetuate his raging immaturity.

I agree. He's very talented and definitely has the potential for a great career in sports journalism/media. But the show borders on the profane half the time and it isn't something I can listen to with my kid around.

Maybe the sports animal is more for family listening

I live on the West Coast and hadn't heard Erik before...

When asked about Lane Kiffin, Erik said:
"We were taken to prom, and then he took us to second base, but they left with a hotter girl.... He left with a girl who had bigger boobs... and we knew that.... We weren't mad that Lane left, we were mad that we got Derek Dooley"

When asked about Arian Foster, Erik said
- Arian was his best friend while Erik was at college
- Erik paid for Arians meals and gas
- Erik thinks Arian is lying
- Erik thinks that Arian is just trying to establish a platform
- Erik thinks Arian is weird because he is smart

When asked about Hounddogs and what it is like (Petros is obsessed with Hounddogs and always plays the soundbite of the woman from Hounddogs saying she will send Lane Kiffin shirts to Haiti for the children), Erik Said:

"It doesn't smell like beer and cheese"

My question to everyone - is this Erik being Erik?

PS - before he came on, the background music was a slow, grunge song talking about getting stoned. I picked up on the irony.
Uh, wait. That's even worse.....cause that means Erik was giving Arian money on the side, so who was giving Erik taco and petrol money? :loco:

I get that a lot. I joined in 2010. I'd been reading a while but wanted to post. I just picked something really fast. I've thought about getting it changed. Maybe I can change it to PalardyLikeARockstar or Gay4Bray.

No it wouldn't. It's not a democracy. The AD is hired because he/she is supposed to be able to best evaluate coaches and other people in athletics. He / she is supposed to have expertise. Frankly, if the AD doesn't know more than us (as fans), then he's not doing his job very well.

Regardless, I was not happy about the Kiffin hire and was unimpressed with the Dooley hire. The Kiffin hire actually angered me a bit, since it meant that UT was firing Chavis. Would've preferred to have hired a coach that would have kept Chavis around. The Dooley hire was always a head-scratcher. I liked him as a person, and hoped that Mike Hamilton knew something we didn't know ... but unfortunately, that was not the case.

I wasn't so much against the Kiffin hire as much as I didn't "get it". I didn't understand why he was hired because he seemed to not be ready to be a head coach.

I absolutely hated the Dooley hire. I realize many did because he was an aw shucks Southerner who said britches, but I not once ever thought he would get much done here.
