I hope for the SEC's sake they do not get the death penalty but it may be a rough ride for them this summer. Pay for play is not joke, especially if it is a bad down there as some blogs are saying.
The NCAA will never use the death penalty again. It's been two decades and SMU still hasn't recovered from those sanctions.Ironic that ESPN's "30 for 30: Pony Excess" is being premiered immediately after Auburn's Cam Newton (likely) wins the Heisman Trophy. Once all the dirt comes out against Auburn, they may very well be facing sanctions similar to SMU.
I think maybe that's the reason I had trouble with the whole thing. Eric Dickerson was treated like he was somehow above the fray and the boosters were all laughing about what happened. Can someone explain to me how the guys who took money can sit there and say with straight faces that "they didn't do anything."?
