ESPN Achieves New Level of Incompetence

How the #?$k do you make that kind of mistake and it gets through production? Conspiracy or incompetence-call it what you like!

It’s live television. They screwed up. I would hope someone learned a lesson from it.

It wasn’t a slight toward TN in anyway.

Production? That's literally being done on the fly, probably by people in grade school in 1998.
Somebody FU, big deal. This 'everybody hates us!' crap is embarrassing.

Four sentences compared to four paragraphs. Got to admit. I read your entire post.

I don’t take it as a slight. I took it as a sports network that knows nothing about sports. I guess this is the new woke way. Probably a Heisman winner too.!

WTF does this have to do with being “woke”?

They made a mistake on live television. Wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last. If you are wanting to make it political then Fox News butchers details during live TV on a daily basis. I’m sure their sports network does too.

Good grief 🤦‍♂️

Pretty simple comprehension. ESPN more concerned about wokeness than knowing sports. Nothing to do with FOX, more about sports ignorance. I’d say that’s a pretty big mistake for a sports network. If CNN said it or FOX, I could understand. You may believe otherwise; I’m ok with that.

There is a history of this with ESPN. Kirk Herbstreit was such a jerk at times this year it gives legs to the Tennessee hate thing. He lives somewhere around here. Probably shouldn't venture out on his own too much except behind the fence of his gated community.
Gayted. Fixed it.

That is a stretch and a projection of your own ideology clouding your judgment.

Someone screwed up. Maybe they had a Mandela Effect and thought Manning won the NC. Perhaps they had a different graphic ready and accidentally merged it with one for a Manning appearance.

It’s funny for us as TN fans but these folks don’t live and breath TN sports and they messed up. Wasn’t because they had some social justice issue going through their mind that prevented them from thinking straight.

Wasn’t because they researched or knew football facts either. Might be a good idea to hire some people based on sports knowledge. But if you want to suck up to ESPN for some reason, I said it’s ok, go for it. Most non-Tennessee football fans knew this. In fact many other sports forums made fun of it and the stupidity of ESPN just like here.

I really don’t give ESPN much of my bandwidth unless it’s watching a live game. I find others getting twerked up about them rather amusing.

It was a screw up and worthy of being laughed at. I’m laughing.

It’s not a reflection of any political leanings. It’s not a slight toward TN. It’s not even a reflection of their overall competency in live broadcasting.

My MIL used the term WOKE the other day, basically saying everyone is woke…I asked what that meant and she said she didn’t know but heard it on the news. I laughed and yoked her she was being groomed..😂

That isn’t some TN bias conspiracy that is just someone in the graphics screwed up. It happens often
By people whose job it is to know sports. Or at least the editors who looks at the crap before it go is on the screen. Just makes them look idiotic.

But seriously, most non-Tennessee fans think we won the NC with Manning.

This just in

ESPN will be naming 2022 Cade Klubnik year due to his heroic efforts in the orange bowl and for inventing the forward pass, Honorable mention will be given to his parents with special recognition going to his mother for giving birth to Cade.
Count me in the "care less" category.

They sure did have a love affair with the Cade story. They really put his bar very, very high. Next year they will be all be piling on if he doesn't live up to all that hype. Poor kid. That's what the media does...build you up so they can tear you down.

I think there are casual TN fans that think he won it.

But also I’m not expecting every single person on working on the broadcast to be a sports encyclopedia for every team. Somewhere there was a miscommunication from the person getting the info to the graphics person the producer that let it go up.

There was accurate info in the graphic. It was Peyton Manning. He was the QB from 94-97. TN did win the 98 NC. They just brain farted and merged it.

It is funny but honestly it happens all the time. Especially in college broadcasts.
