ESPN and Pearl

Don't have to time to look for it, but there was an article in USA Today this week about Pearl and ESPN. He said that he screwed up his "dream job." He said that he was very thrilled to get the ESPN job, but he is not trying to use it just to get back in coaching. He said that when he got hired, the first thing he told ESPN folks is that he "won't be vanilla."

Would be interesting if he did a UT game because I think he has alot of praise for CCM.

God, you're lost sometimes. You were talking about Bobby Petrino not Bruce Pearl when I asked that question.

Wrong! First, I made a point questioning the provenance of the Bruce Pearl/espn post. Then, I mentioned in passing that there was a link on the espn site to Petrino's interest in KY, something that most SEC sports fans would find interesting. Clearly, reading comprehension is a skill that some folks don't develop past the grade-school level.

Wrong? I quoted what you said and it was specifically about Petrino not a word about Pearl. You should be able to go back and look if you like. As far as my reading comprehension skills, they're just fine. And weren't you just babbling some ad hominem crap on here yesterday? Take your own advice.

I'm not seeing this anywhere on the espn site.
But, I am seeing that Petrino has expressed interest in the KY football job.

Here's your exact post. See if you can find where you talked about Pearl in there. Yeah, I didn't think so.

The conjunction But at the beginning of the second sentence clearly indicating that I'm introducing a different topic.

To anyone with the comprehension skills of a slug, the this part of my first sentence refers to the original post regarding Pearl/espn - as I said before, questioning the provenance of this little tidbit.

The second sentence is the one referring to Petrino. Separate sentences, separate thoughts.

You are right about one thing; You didn't think.
Clearly, any further grammatical explication would be lost on you, so that's it - I'm done with you.

In most parts of the world when you connect the word "this" to another thought using a conjunction. The word "this" refers to what comes after the conjunction, not some random thought in your head. Like this:

Don't take this the wrong way but you're a little crazy.

As far as you being done with me, that's cool. I could use a little less arrogant dumbassery in my life.

edit: And it still doesn't doesn't address the question, what does a comment about Petrino have to do with UT basketball?

I think this is perfect. BP spends a few years (Gottfried) on the air and becomes the guru personality. Then he is able to go back into coaching with a huge splash. You think Gottfried's time on the air hasn't helped him in recruiting? Four players in the top 100.

I can't think a short stint on ESPN can make that big a difference in what recruits you get. Maybe it's just a perfect storm but it is weird how they're recruiting so well suddenly.

This would make sense.

If Gottfried wasn't hit with a show clause for three years.

Bruce's problem isn't coaching/recruiting.

He wouldn't have a problem getting a job once it's up. He would've earned enough goodwill back by then. If he didn't ruin his career after the Illinois situation, something like lying about a BBQ will not affect most teams.

There's only been one coach to get a D1 gig. Todd Bozeman.

Pearl might get a low mid major job, but that's it.

I don't know, if anyone could pull it off at the end of the show cause it would be Pearl. The man proved he can build not only a team but a fan base.

Good for Bruce. Much rather have him in on the mic than coaching in the SEC.

Initially you're probably right, but I think he'll be back at a high major school before too long though.

I could even see a team in a high major conference who has struggled brutally taking a shot...like Kentucky with Petrino.
