ESPN article on Weis' comments

Oh, and you wonder why Tennessee jumped ahead of you? Beside the fact that they're better than you, it might have something to do with the fact that they beat Alabama -- a quality team in the best conference in college football and a longtime rival -- while you slipped past an average team from a bad conference. Just a theory. It might also have something to do with the fact that Tennessee has already beaten three teams this season who are currently ranked (you may recall you have just one such win) and that their only loss was by one point to a very good Florida team while your loss was by 26 -- 26! -- at home to Michigan. So really, if you think about it, the only shock is that you were actually ranked ahead of Tennessee before this week.

Great article. I didn't see it elsewhere either, so thanks before they merge it.

I still can't find the other 2 times it was posted. I found where the original article by Weiss was posted twice, but can't find the 2 of these.

To me that is a little harsh. People love to hate on Notre Dame. To say their schedule is weak is stupid to me.

No...I think their schedule isn't too bad this year. Something makes me think last year's was not that rough until the bowl game...but maybe I'm wrong..I don't have the energy to look up last year's schedule. It is still pretty funny to me.

a stretch of MSU, purdue, stanford, ucla, navy, north carolina, air force, and army does serious damage any claims of a "tough" schedule. not to mention PSU isn't very good this right now either.

yes a little but Penn St. and MSU are still teams that are scary to play no matter what they look like. Mich,USC,GT,and Purdue is not the greatest but they usually give you a good fight.

Not every game is a tough game for them, obviously. But, they have some big names on their schedule...Don't get me wrong..it's no SEC schedule.....

exactly, and that's the point that was made. Names look scary when you write them on paper. But if we played the U or FSU right now what do you think would happen? those are two other scary names on paper

They are scary on paper for a reason. Its like playin our team last year at 5-6. We look bad but ask a top ten team if they want to play in TN.

I hope they beat Navy by 60 and still get dropped a couple of places this week. Clemson and Cal should be ahead of them.

Sat, Sep 2 at Georgia Tech W 14-10 --
Sat, Sep 9 (19) Penn State W 41-17 --
Sat, Sep 16 (11) Michigan L 21-47 --
Sat, Sep 23 at Michigan State W 40-37 --
Sat, Sep 30 Purdue W 35-21 --
Sat, Oct 7 Stanford W 31-10 --
Sat, Oct 21 UCLA W 20-17 --
Sat, Oct 28 at Navy 12:00 pm --
Sat, Nov 4 North Carolina 2:30 pm --
Sat, Nov 11 at Air Force 4:00 pm --
Sat, Nov 18 Army 2:30 pm --
Sat, Nov 25 at (3) USC 8:00 pm --

Thats a tough schedule to you? Georgia Tech isn't that good, better than average I guess, Penn State is worse than GT, Michigan spanks them, Michigan State is bad, Purdue is weak and feasted on weak competition, Stanford is, well, Stanford, UCLA is down, Navy is weakened due to losing their QB, UNC is horrid, Air Force is decent but they aren't helping their SOS, Army, yeah, ok, and FINALLY, USC, the one tough game for them.

Big names that when you look past the records, for the most part, are weaker than their reputation.

Notre Dame definitely doesn't play a tough schedule. They have a couple of tough games per year... but that doesn't make it a tough schedule. They might as well join the Big East or Pac 10 conference.

There is no since arguing this issue.

Tennessee (for that matter most SEC) fans all but universally agree that the ND schedule year-in and year-out lacks competitiveness in the modern age of football. We SEC fans are just bent that way since we believe the search for the best team in America every year just requires a look somewhere bascially in our own back yard. And we have some frustration about beating the crap out of one another every year which the polls don't appreciate nor accomodate.

We also should also agree though that no ND fan will ever, and I mean ever, see it this way. In fact, it will probably just make them angry.
