ESPN Basketball Analyst Jay Williams just said...

I wouldn't be surprised if we got a #1 seed and didn't make it out of the first round. And I also wouldn't be surprised if we made it to the final 4 as a 16 seed... I guess what I'm trying to say is this team is about as inconsistent as it gets.

this year--consistently mediocre, at best. Mediocre is really giving this team the benefit of the doubt; aside from the wins at georgia and at vandy (not exactly powerhouses), we've been pretty weak for about 25 games.

From the 9 spot, the potential 2nd round matchup couldn't possibly be better. I will say that much.

Besides Derrick Rose, Jay Williams is the most dominant college point guard I ever watched. He absolutely dominated college basketball games when he was at Duke leading them to the 2001 national championship, although they should have repeated in 2002, but choked against Indiana and the horrible officiating.

Tennessee is a talented team that could make the final four. He also said scotty hopson is a definite talent that will be in the pros.

Interesting...

See, part of ESPN's plan now is to be nice to UT and Bruce Pearl, no more bashing, no more mentioning of the violations, so that they can justify to themselves why they are not talking about all the crap going down at OSU.

Talented? Yes.
Final Four? Let's not push it.

Don't get me wrong, I want our boys to win it all, but this guy is dreaming.

Let me make this clear:

We will NOT make it to the Final Four.

We will be VERY lucky to get past the round of 32.

Duke is way too disciplined a basketball team to think they have much of a shot. Even if they play them good for a half they'll adjust like good teams do. They may never make it past a good perimeter shooting team like Michigan since they like to stand and watch people take open 3's.
