ESPN Bottom 10

Well, what would one expect of ESPN--they're all absorbed in their hair dye that's out of wack with their real ages.

What this guy says. They treat UT like losers even when we have a winning seasion. Reasion being cause we are so unpredictable and they have no clue about us.

Who cares what ESPN thinks. If the rest of the country didn't like us, we wouldn't be on ESPN all the time.

:hi: You have to play the cards you are dealt. We stunk the place up offensively in almost every game this year.. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

If the shoe fits, you must wear it. Blisters and all!!!! :mf_surrender:

Isn't it strange that when Clausen speaks out, he doesn't get the start in the next game? Hmm

You guys are taking this #5 on the Bottom 10 thing WAY too seriously. The Bottom 10 changes every week and is intended as a humerous take on the worst of college teams.

The number 5 spot is reserved for an otherwise good team that blows it one week. Vandy was in the 5 spot after going 4-0 and laying an egg against Middle.

Hard to argue that the Vols didn't do that on Saturday. Add to that the Sanders mess, and UT had a spectacularly bad weekend.

In this case, at least, ESPN is not out to get us.

Did I miss something?

I think RC is stepping up and taking blame for his role in the Vols performance. :post-20645-1119625378:

The coaches and players are the team - we are the fans. If we can criticize them why can't they criticize us?

I've got no problem with anything RC said and think it needed to be said.

Grow some thicker skin people.

Interesting that a team with a poor offense and great defense that is a few plays away from being 5-2 or even 6-1 is thought as bad.......

While a team that has a great offense and poor defense that had played a similarly tough schedule would be thought of as a good team with a few bad breaks.

Just something to think about.

Matter of fact, let's pick a team that has not even played as tough a schedule, but is 8-0.

They have at least 4 wins that could have been losses....
21-17 over Washington
47-40 over California
44-41 over Washington State in overtime
30-27 over Stanford in overtime

UCLA is ranked 5th in the country and is also 8-0. There opponents are 23-29. Tennessee's are 32-13. According to the BCS SOS (formerly used) formula, UT is 2nd and UCLA is 59th in SOS.

Contrasting Tennessee, UCLA is 5th in the nation in scoring offense (UT is 108), 26th in total offense (UT is 99), 88th in total defense (UT is 12) and 75th in scoring defense (UT is 9). Not to mention they play in the Pac10.

But alas, its all in the wins and losses anyways.

Here's another one. Arizona is 4-4. Was leading USC for most of its game as well as LSU. Is 5th in total offense and 8th in scoring offense but is 106 in total defense and 85 in scoring defense.

Northwestern is 5-3, is 4th in total offense and 10th in scoring offense but only 117 in total defense (last) and 100 in scoring defense. Arizona State beat them 52-21.

After UCONN gave up 45 points last night, Tennessee is now the only unranked team in the top 10 scoring defenses in the NCAA IA.
1. Va Tech
2. Alabama
3. Miami
4. Auburn
5. Georgia
6. Florida
7. LSU
8. Tennessee
8. Boston College
10. Penn State

And if you are wondering, Notre Dame is ranked 60th in scoring defense giving up 25.3 points per game.

That is a great post, even for someone like me with ADD.

Fact is UT has had a few games to pad their offense. Scoring 40 points against SC and UAB would have gone a long way to moving the offense up a bit.

I love the irony of peole on a message board making ascinine comments to tell Rick Clausen that HE should keep his mouth shut. Classic!

As a serious question, how can someone who is supposed to be a starting quarterback at a major Division I school not have the ability to accurately and effectively throw a football 30-40 yards down the field?

Seriously, I think I can still do that and I haven't quarterbacked since a career ending injury in early high school.

I don't know surreal, but we're bound to lucky with the long ball sooner or later. Surely we can't go through the whole season without a couple of good ones.

Tomorrow would be the perfect time for that to happen. :focus:

He doesn't have a dog in the fight. This program doesn't mean crap to him. He was the one that was gonna pack his bags and leave b4 the LSU game.
