ESPN EARLY Top 25 Basketball Teams

You know why is it every time the I see the word ESPN I also see red because I know it's going to be something negative about UT! What will we have to do to get their attention? After a season like the last one and the recruiting class Bruce has coming in, what does it take? Maybe a little one-on-one against some of their sports writers to make them stop and says yeah, maybe these guys have got something going on in Knoxville! :clapping:

:espn: I would rather ESPN not give us attention because it seems like everyting we have high expectations with, we suck it up that season

It also jumped out at me that our new assistant's former team, Texas A&M, is in ESPN's top 10. No way that UT is not a top 25 team if Ramar Smith qualifies. If he doesn't, I'm confident that Pearl will find a PG, probably Johnson, and keep this team competitve with the nation's elite.

Did everyone ignore the lead in? Katz clearly states that UT is certainly a team that could crack the Top 25. I don't see anything disrespectful about omitting a team with no proven point guard from a preseason poll.

Cool. Preseason basketball predictions before fall football practice.

We DO need a point guard.

I'm not worried. Bruce Pearl can talk his way into the top 25 once the season starts.

I agree with his take on UTK and most teams in this poll. But, he talks about needing to see more from UTK, So. Ill., etc. Yet then he puts Texas A&M at #10. I need to see a little more sustained success from them before I believe they are a Top 10 team.

same here....didn't see or interpret anything negative....if the recurits pan out and we do wind up with a good PG, we'll be fine....no biggie here.

I'd remind everyone as well that Florida was in no one's preseason poll last year, not even an honorable mention. They were left out of the first Bracketology, altogether.

Whereupon they started the season 17-0, won the SEC tournament, got into the NCAA tourney, and then pummeled everyone on their way to the NCAA championship.

You're not ranked??? Congrats!!!

Sigh.

Read it more closely. They pummeled everyone ONCE they got into the tournament. I ain't no dummy.

Well, not about this. No way was I going to say we beat everyone. I know what response that would get. That's why I said they pummeled everyone after they got in the NCAA tournament. Hey, they were the only team in the NCAA tournament to win their last game !!!!

he did say NCAA tourney....

Thank you for reading, Jake.

Sheesz!

But while we are on the subject, Gators did win, what, their last ten in a row? Ran right through the SEC tourney. Did survive a scare from S.C. Only remotely close game in NCAA tourney was Georgetown, but as I've said before 4 points against them was equivalent to 12 against anyone else.

Otherwise, the Gators simply crushed everything in sight, like a giant Mega-man from Cartman's toy collection.
