ESPN hates us.

ESPN hates us because we have been consistently a BAD BRAND. BAD TEAMS = BAD MATCHUPS = BAD RATINGS = LOSS OF REVENUE

I agree with KBVOL they showed us a lot of love today during the Beech game. But espn all they talk about is alabama that's the reason I don't watch college football live no more. About every word that comes out of there mouth is alabama this and alabama that gets old man I started watchin fox sports 1 atleast they talk about all the teams

I agree to this. I stop watching "Talking Football" on CSS because they talk too much about GA, AL, LSU & FL. I also don't watch "Gameday" anymore because it's never about our team until it's late in the program when they make you wait & watch. I just wait till it's kick-off time so I want be too damn mad about the situation.

I have no idea what anything in that article has to do with loving or hating schools, but it does highlight the ridiculous amount of influence ESPN has over the sport.

We so much need more competition in sports broadcasting.

Interesting. They hate us, yet they show us in their TV ads for college FB.
Maybe they just like the vibrant colors.

Final proof for the conspiracy theorists: as you read, count the mentions of Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida, S. Carolina, Miss St., LSU, Auburn, Ole' Miss,... even Kentucky. But no mention of the Vols.

Yup. ESPN hates us.

It's exactly the opposite:

Knoxville's ESPN football market a top 10 staple » GoVolsXtra

There aren't many Tennessee games I haven't watched in High Def in recent years. Not many schools enjoy such luxuries.

ESPN hated on the Vols because of Hammy, same reason ncaa hated on us. Hammy took over at a high time in UT history, and pissed alot of people off. He in a nut shell told NCAA to take hike. Kind of like North Korea tellin UN inspectors to take hike.

NCAA updated the recruiting rules to hamstring UT recruiting methods, to make a point.
We then started our decline into where we are now.
As much as everyone likes to blame Phil, his process was undermined from inside and outside.
There is much in the politics of college sports, and media that fans do not understand.
Its all related, just like government, businesses, and banks.
Think the tail wagging the dog.

Now that Hambone is out, we have an AD that is willing to play ball.
Things are much better for UT now in the power brokers eyes.
It will translate into many good things.
It also means UT will be relevant.
Expect more love from media, more love from investors, and increased endowments to the football program, as well as academic scholarships.

Clearly VN's sarcasm meter is broken.

Of course there is no validity to "ESPN hastes us." It is a joke. People, IT IS A JOKE.

But if anyone other than Velo_Vol took the 5 minutes needed to read the article I posted, they would see my point that ESPN has an obscene amount of power over college football. Far more than I ever knew.

They fully own 9 of the bowls & produce 80% of the rest of them. They will televise all but one bowl this year. They are the puppet master making conference re-allignment happen & are consulted by conference commissioners as to whom to invite. They MADE Boise St. into a national power because they needed cheap mid-week programming. And by influencing who gets on TV, who gets in their promos, & who gets talked about they are influencing the human polls & thus the MNC.

smh

I am a Vol fan since early 60's. I bleed Orange as you. the fact remains Tenn hasn't done Shttt since 2001 but pay a bunch of no count friggin coaches money and loose. I said it when Fulmer starting slipping TN better go after a bigname proven ccoach to save out beloved team. so here we are TN starts winning again ESPN will talk about it otherwise we will be looked over.. go Vols.. get some revenge. ten needs to make a statement .. they need to get junk yard mean and kick some arose .. big time..

Yeah winning the east in 2007 and being two or three plays from playing in a BCS game wasn't much.

That's all you have? 2007 was 6 years ago. UT won the East by getting their a$$ handed to them by UF & Bama and squeaking by Vandy & UK.

However, to your point, they played pretty well against LSU.

I don't see the problem. I like people to hate us, because that means we're WINNING! Hate is a good thing.

Yep, other than our recent recruiting success, ESPN or anyone else for that matter has had no reason to drool over us. Breaking news: until we win on the field, we're not gonna get any love from anybody. Deal with it. So quite frankly, I could give a ratz azz what anyone says. Im just going to hope that cbj's success spill on to the field. That's all I have to say about that.
