ESPN Insider: Hard to beat the Bulldogs in Georgia

The newest post on the Rumor Central states:

"It's tough to say you're locking down the state if the No. 1, 2 and 3 guys go elsewhere," Scott Kennedy of Scout.com told Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald. "But if you finish with 17 of the next 20, how do you complain for real?"

Considering the top 5 in-state guys for GA are DE Ray Drew, RB Isaiah Crowell, ATH Quan Bray, TE Jay Rome and DE Xzavier Dickson who are all listed as at least strongly considering other schools, it is amazing how ESPN was able to contradict themselves within 2 days. So which one is it ESPN, is UGA "Hard to Beat" or are they "Putting the Dream Team on Hold"?

They were 6.0 out of 6.1. That's on the verge of being 5*s. That's code for them being can't-miss prospects.

Kind of like Ben Martin being a 5* prospect? He might get outplayed by freshmen this year. A high four-star rating is by no means an indication that a player will be a "can't-miss" prospect.

I think ESPNs ratings are the best right now.

Their info on where a recruit is leaning is terrible though.

Do you think their ratings are best right now bc they actually rate the players best or bc their ratings have more players up top that TN actually has a chance with?

Considering UGA currently has 7 of the top 20 committed and one could argue that Bailey and Bowman should be top 20, thats not bad. Also they lead for Ray Drew and Jay Rome. Not to mention they are in the top 3 of several other top recruits and will probably get Isaiah Crowell. I feel good about 2010 and the class of 2010.

Where to begin....

First of all the individuals you named are the class of 2011. After literally taking the plunge on your 2010 class ranking I wouldn't feel so good about that one.

If you think you lead for Ray Drew and Jay Rome you are seriously on crack. Jay Rome is more likely to end up at Clemson than UGA sorry. I would hardly say you lead for Drew based on...well every report on FSU, UT, UF, etc. fan sites.

Poor UGA fans, you really are as dumb as you look.

read on rivals that Ray Drew has been telling Rome to go to UGA...IF that is true, wouldn't you say they lead for him? Jay Rome is looking at the wrong orange, he is a beast and look at all the TE's we've put in the league.

Is this quote from Rome just to appease the dawg fans he lives around? I think he is clemson bound but most think if anybody can pull him, it's uga.

“I grew up in Georgia and always liked Georgia,” said Jay Rome about the Bulldogs. “It’s a place I can see myself fitting in and making a big impact on the team. They said they’d definitely move me around on offense a bit and make sure they got me the ball. It’s also a really beautiful campus. I love it there and I’m real familiar and comfortable in Athens already."

Yea the 2010 thing was a typo. Also not only do I think we lead for Drew and Rome, alot of other believe we do as well. As SEC said it has been reported that Drew has been recruiting Rome to go to UGA and there have been several outlets report that they wouldn't be surprised to see Rome commit to Georgia soon. Word is also going around that Swann will announce on Dawg Night in a few weeks. You can say all you want about Georgia recruiting and last year was their worst year. As a matter of a fact Georgia was the only school in the NCAA to have a top 10 class every year since they started ranking them until last year. However they came out of the gates blazing this year and are putting together a great group that will finish top 5. Grantham, Belin and Lakatos was exactly what the Dawgs needed, they just needed it 2-3 years ago. The bead and break year of the Martinez regime are gone and the future is bright.
