Top 12 has:

1. Texas
2. Oregon
3. Penn State
4. Ohio State
5. Georgia
6. Alabama
7. Miami
8. Clemson
9. BYU
10. Boise State (WTF)
11. LSU
12. Iowa State

Poll looks like a joke IMO with Boise State and Iowa State

With the team playing at the current level, with out any improvement, we beat Iowa state, Penn state, BYU, Boise, convincingly. With some improvement, we can beat the remaining

Half the SEC could beat BYU, Boise State, and Iowa State. Penn State is decent but shouldn't be ahead of Alabama and Georgia.

They have Clemson in there because they are probably a sure bet to make the playoffs, due to feasting in an inferior conference.
And then you have Dabo and his “Roy bus” nonsense.
Same as it was years ago.
Oddly enough, their fan base is bitter over all the SEC teams ahead of them. The only one they play every year is Carolina, sometimes they’ll play KY in a bowl, and the only legit ones they’ve played within the last 5 years have beaten them handily (UT and UGA)
Only ones to challenge them this year MIGHT be Pitt until the championship game, which will probably be Miami.

Boise State is actually legit but Iowa State is perhaps one of the best teams in a bad B12 conference kind of like Clemson/Miami in the ACC. BYU has a good defense.

The SEC started cannibalizing early with the big games. Over the next few weeks the b1g will do the same: Penn St/Ohio St in 2 weeks.

Boise State would automatically be in based on them being the highest rated G5 team. Their poll position in regards to P4 teams is meaningless.

They always look for ANY reason to believe the Big is where it’s at. If the SEC is off the charts they have to concede.

If there’s ANY reason to believe there’s even a chance the SEC isn’t as strong they immediately jump to the Big. The “burden of proof” is always on the SEC to prove they’re better than the Big. The Big is the default.

That’s what it boils down to. All things being equal, regardless of the trends and past, the Big is better.

Why the WTF with Boise State? You understand how the playoff works with G5 right?

I think if we play Gaston Moore we could, all we need is someone not to turn the ball over and hit the easy wide open passes and we should be able to play the playoffs.

SEC rosters are going to be seriously depleted by end of season, competing against each other each week.

As for ESPN... they are just an entertainment network competing for eyeballs, not for Peabody Awards or Pulitzers.

I mean Iowa State is a likely candidate for Big 12 Champ, but both ISU and BYU have to go to Utah.
Big 12 Champ will be one of the four conference champ, so that has nothing to do with a ranking that will keep Tennessee out if Tennessee takes care of business.
