ESPN NICO Piece

Let's get this straight.

Nico was not meeting some team and personal meetings nor answering some phone calls. His camp had also shopped his services all over the country.

Nico feels betrayed that the truth came out that he missed obligations and was shopping his services all around the country.

Being "betrayed" by the truth is better expressed as being guilty of what you're being accused of doing.

As the kids life to say: FAFO.

Also I get the vibe from this article that his Dad is trying to nudge him under the bus for the decision. "His Dad encouraged him to sleep on the decision." No one would have that info but Nico and his camp and it tosses the decision all on Nico. I'm not buying that.
Late breaking story from some credible source reveals Nico was upset that he received a phone bill , and this was in violation of Rocky Top Fight song, paragraph 1, line 2 which clearly states " ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top , ain't no telephone bills". Or could be he was just a punk who wanted more money ?

Reading that article only further crystalizes a few points for me.

First, Nico and his clan didn't give the first damn about being at Tennessee, nor did they have any respect for the coaches or the program. You don't ghost coaches you respect. You don't lie to their faces, repeatedly, and expect to have any ground to stand on after. Additionally, the Iamaleava crew is terrible at PR. Flat out terrible. Walked around like Nico was the #1 pick in the NFL Draft and didn't have to do any actual work aside from show up and sling balls.

Second, I don't know how this year is going to shake out, and I certainly don't care much about mercenary players of any stripe these days -- but if Aguilar and Heupel can put up some big numbers and shut down all that faux bitching the Iamaleava corporation did about UT's offense not being acceptable for them, well, let's just say I'm not going to view that unfavorably.

Didn't read it but I see they put it as their top headline. That seems to only happen when there is a program blowup. Fall can't come soon enough.

Our offense is very good when we have a QB who can read defenses, find open receivers, and get the ball to them when they are open, Nico has problems executing all of these requirements.

It’s not a reflection on us. This a VERY compelling national story because every fan base is scared they will be next. It’s also Wednesday afternoon and the 4 letter network is out of WNBA interest stories.

Nico's camp is so stupid. I feel bad for this kid. They think this constitutes damage control?

Nico felt "betrayed" because there was a leak that he was trying to leverage more money?...that's why he ghosted practice? He thinks he's entitled to try to secretly hold us over a barrel? It's so weird.

They better cool it with the "missed payments" excuse unless it's true. The sharks over at Sprye will show them what lawfare is all about.

If i was nico, and I played like I did last year, i would be at every available practice, not taking a mental health day. Grind to get better is not in his DNA.

They were just squeezing the Big Orange to get more cash from Spyre. They thought breaking team rules was just negotiating.
Heupel and White called their clumsy bluff. Then, I think Nico's camp thought he was such hotstuff no one would care how he left Knoxville.

Arky's Athletic Director is saying the Hogs are going to sue Madden I. for his NIL buyout.

Does Spyre have NIL buyouts?
I read an article that speculated UT Athletics is considering the same, but it is not clear to me if our NIL has buyout clauses for the players. If our deals have no buyout, Arky is giving us a lesson in writing these deals.
