Are you saying she should get a pass for her choosing to park in the wrong place at the wrong time? Not driving drunk is fine and all, but I don't see how that means she should get a pass. Not even considering her ridiculous and condescending hissy fit lol.
There would be a lot of unemployed people if everyone got fired for berating a towing company employee.
Yeah, but not every company is as visible as ESPN and not every job is as visible/high profile as TV reporter.
I'm not saying it's justice, but if I'm ESPN I'd make an example of her. There is literally nothing special about her. We wouldn't notice another blond replacing her.
It's not just that she berated the employee, it's that she clearly thinks she's better than other people.
And now this thread has sexual harassment on it too. This board bothers me more and more every day.
You think they towed her for the hell of it?
If they fired her I'd be ok with that. Personally, I wouldn't unless of course I got a bunch of flak from my advertisers.
Everyone has the ability to be a complete ass once in a while. So she chewed on someone, not a big deal to me.
There's no sexual harassment or sexism coming from me. She, along with every other employee at ESPN, should be held to the highest standard, regardless of gender.
In that video, she doesn't just personally attack the woman, she's personally attacking thousands of lower class Americans. I'm not in the lower class, but I don't belittle those in lower paying positions. She has a superiority complex, and it's now public.
I agree with most that towing companies are awful, but she knew she had a camera on her, but that didn't stop her from showing her true colors.
Honestly, I don't think less of people who get pissed in this situation, but her chosen words would make me think less of anyone.
That being said, I don't think she deserves to be fired, I'm just saying I would fire (and hate****) in the interest of the company (because of the nature of the business).
The highest standard? They deliver sports and sports news. Good grief.
That goes for being off the camera too, sir. It's not just for when an employee is on the clock.
What about the CEO last year that got fired for belittling a Chick Fila drive thru employee? That loser has been out of work for 16 months.
They towed her for the money.
Here's how these things work, a restaurant, apartment complex or whoever allows/contracts with a tow company to tow unauthorized parked cars. These tow companies troll the lots for any vehicle they can hook, they make a lot of mistakes but have cover from the lot owner and city.
My wife who manages several apartment complexes had one of her contracted tow companies come in and start towing cars where the parking sticker wasn't visible. It had snowed! They hooked about a dozen before she put a stop to it. Tow company refused to let the cars out or reimburse the fees, their contract specifically states they can tow any vehicle without a visible parking sticker.
I have no sympathy for towing operations that operate like that.
I don't care where she did it. They shouldn't fire her. They will not lose any viewers over this.
Most of her comments were accurate. Sorry, this is new America, we want everything softened.
Yeah that kind of stuff is messed up. In the same fashion, I have no sympathy for people who treat others like s***. I will definitely cede that the whole story on McHenry's incident is not available, and there are probably more details we should know in order to make a sound judgement of the situation.
To some degree, her comments may be accurate, but there's no need for her to make an *** of herself to prove a point.
I wouldn't even say that ESPN has to fire her, just take disciplinary action. However, this will definitely leave a scar on her record. From now on, when her name is typed into Google, this incident will show up in the search results. She'll always be asked about it.
I make assumptions, sure, but that doesn't mean they are at all far-fetched. If what I read was correct: that she went to a restaurant, then left her car parked there while going a couple more places before returning after hours to a missing car, then the dots more than fill themselves in. She probably drank so she didn't drive until she had sobered up. I've dealt with towing companies three times. Once mine was towed, the second mine was lifted up as I arrived, the third a friend was towed and needed a lift there. Each time the people were the absolute rudest. They drag their damn feet and get this false sense of power because they have your car. I know I have a small sample size, but I can't imagine towing companies outside of Knoxville are miraculously pleasant.
When my friend was towed, we literally sat at the tow place for 45 minutes before they could release her car. They were straight-up asshats about it for no reason whatsoever. So I'm basically never going to protect people who work at sleazy tow places because they deserve every ounce of sht thrown at them.
