Kiffin was perceived to play fast and loose recruiting at UTK and maybe he did push the envelope but I recall any severe sanctions. He didn't have to use those tactics at USC so he dropped his act. He won't need to resort to hostesses and helicopters to recruit to Bama.
Thankfully, he was only here a year, so the things he did do, he covered his tracks. The longer you're in one place, the more time evidence has time to pile up. What did come out, he pinned on others, including his own brother-in-law. Man has so much character he threw his wife's brother under the bus.
When he returned to USC, he toned down his tactics because he had to. The NCAA was watching him like a hawk. He couldn't afford to screw up.
The first time he was at USC, he was employing every tactic in the book. Reggie Bush was what they were nailed for, but he was just the tip of the iceberg.
Kiffin is dirty. He's good at covering his tracks, but the longer you perpetuate a lie, the more likely it is to unravel. He doesn't know any other way to play than by bending the rules, and if he's not careful, he will get caught. Old-school bammers should be concerned.
New bammers probably laugh, thinking they've smacked us in the face with this hire. Personally, I don't care if he's their OC. I'm just giving my opinion of the man. He's not a bad OC, but he doesn't worry me either. He's beatable, just like any coach. But any bammer that doesn't know their school's history of probation is living in fantasyland. Hiring him is like asking for a hooker to give you herpes.
