I received the college basketball preview issue yesterday, and thought it was interesting that they picked:
1. Georgia
2. Florida
3t. Kentucky
3t. Tennessee

in that order, along with ranking Georgia's coach as the best coach in the league by polling players with Donovan 2nd and Pearl 3rd.

Georgia hasn't proven squat! Florida was one loss away from going to the NIT last year. Kentucky lost their entire basketball team. TN is the deepest team in the league and combines a nice blend of experience, youth, and future NBA talent. Not sure what these idiot prognosticators are thinking...The good news is that Bruce likes to play with a chip on his shoulder so this is just fuel for the fire!

georgia lost their best player (Thompkins) to a high ankle sprain for at least a few weeks.

I'm glad we don't have high expectations on top of every other distraction this season. The media's predictions that we'll finish as low as 4th in the East has to be motivating.

And, the one upside to the coaching staff not being able to recruit off campus is that they'll have more time around the current players.

The amount of love Georgia is getting is amazing. I mean, I understand that they'll be good, but I've never seen so much hype for a team that finished last in their own division.

How in the world could anyone rank Georgia #1? I sort of understood the love Florida was getting from the SEC writers...but Georgia? Seriously?

Georgia will be improved but not that much better to be first. Id say its between us or Kentucky

Dont sleep on Georgia this year. They are going to be good. Kentucky has a lot of questions without Kanter. Florida has a good coach and has his best recruiting class in several years. Tennessee has a lot of distractions as well as no real PG. Harris will be a stud but hes a frosh. I think the smartest thing you could do with ranking the East right now is put everyone but SC in a hat and draw out five names. Too many questions and not enough stability.

That was not a writer. They had players pick the conference winners and the players picked UGA

I cannot link to it because it is not allowed, but pretty freaking hilarious to read on a gamblers write up of TN something even more idiotic than this list:
G Scotty Hopson (12.2 ppg last season) and F John Fields (10.2 ppg 8.7 rpg last season) will be the main veterans returning and Fields will be a key guy, as he was the team’s leading rebounder last season.

Thanks to the reenactment of "Shermans March to the Sea" from Cal after he left, I consider last year a good end result. We started the season with 7 scholly players and were one of the last four teams out. The five years before that included 5 Sweet Sixteens, 3 Elite eights and a National Runner-Up finish.
