Best case scenario is 11th. Worst case is 66th.

I wish he did this but with win totals instead. Pretty sure Hanner did that for Basketball Prospectus

Virginia at 11 and Iowa at 16, interesting. Were a bit lower ranked than I thought we would be, 30 by USAT, now 34 by this ESPN ranking, curious as to the AP poll. I thought we'd be ranked by most everyone and in the 20-25 range.

We will have a chance to make a statement quickly though, at Xavier is a huge game, and if we come out of Atlantis 2-1 with a loss to Kansas in the championship we should be ranked somewhere in the top 15 by the time we get back to the states IMO.

This guys ranking system is interesting. He actually rates each player in CBB by efficiency and applies that to a team scale. Obviously there is going to be too much variance at a player level to be significant. Aggregated to a team level helps reduce some of that variance, but that's why he includes best and worst case scenarios for each team.

BTW, I think Iowa and UVA are going to be much improved this year.

Kansas will he super talented. More talented than UK IMO, but they'll be really young so there is a chance.

Can ESPN not decide where to put us?

The first link in this thread has ESPN with us at #34

Two different rankings. The one in the OP is a rating based on statistical projections. The power ranking is just a composite of ESPN's contributors.

The best pre-season predictions have came from the CBS guys. IMO Rothstein has us at 13 and Palm has us at 17. I think thats pretty accurate.
