I gotta say that of the analyst that are in the game today I respect Herbis - even though he is with ESPN. I think he hit it on the head.

Grain + Salt = SEC Championship

I thinks its possible. We'll feel better or worse about it on Saturday night.

Herbstreit is the best of the College Gameday crew. I usually agree with his picks and for the most part his commentary. As for us to win the East, we'll have a better feel after first three games. He is dead on that if we have better team chemistry we could be in the hunt for the East.

If we're cured of "Head up the rectum" disease there actually is a chance of achieving this.

His predictions aren't far fetched at all. As it says, the talent really is there. Its all about chemistry. He probably sees it as many fans do. Randy Sanders just didn't cut it on the offensive side of the ball. He hasn't for years now. Hirbstreit sees the offense really following coach cut as many have in the past. Remember, we as well as the critics thought last year was another National title shot. Its really not too far fetched to still believe an SEC title is possible. GO VOLS!!!!

Didn't ole Herbie pick UGA to win the east last year? I thought he was the only one on the game day crew.

Thank you Bleedin'Orange. For some reason alot of people go defensive for Sanders and try to shift blame. I'm not saying he's a bad guy or anything like that. He just didn't have the right leadership style to get the best out of the talent they've had.

And you are absolutely right, last year wasn't the beginning of Sander's mediocrity. Last year was just the culmination of years of it.

I don't think it was just about playcalling though. My main problem was that our offensive teams lately just haven't been working as the "team" that they are. That's what a good coach must do first and it was never really accomplished. Randy Sanders IS a great guy though and it was really hard to see someone that has spent so much time loving UT football get fired, even though it was the right call. I wish him all the luck in KY.....he's gonna need it!

Hebie has always been kind to TN when picking them...he's rarely been right.

The sad thing is, if we win 9 or 10 games and finish 2nd in the East, most fans will be satisfied with our progress. If we win 10 or 11 games, and lose the SEC Championship Game, there will be a lot of fans calling for Fulmer's head.

I find it stunning that he does not list Leak in the top five drop back passers and that he does not list Caldwell or some of the other elite Florida receivers in the top five. He therefore has no credibility.

I would, however, be only minimally surprised if Tennessee won the East. You guys have the better schedule for it and even though Florida is arguably better (calm down, I said arguably), the schedule for UF is absolutely brutal.

i for one am sick of pre season polls, "expert" picks, what website or magazine says about us etc, etc, etc....dont' take that the wrong way...it give us stuff to talk about and most of the time i'm all for it.

but i'm just ready to SEE something...anything...that will give us an inkling of how good or bad we'll be this year.....

sick of all the questions. sick of the debate. i just want to see it now. show me. either way. just tired of waiting.

can't wait til saturday. go vols.

I don't think it was just about playcalling though.
I don't think it was about playcalling or game planning at all. I would say that was probably a strength for Sanders. His weakness seemed to be that he couldn't discipline his team to execute consistently.
Randy Sanders IS a great guy though and it was really hard to see someone that has spent so much time loving UT football get fired, even though it was the right call.
Technically, he quit.
I wish him all the luck in KY.....he's gonna need it!
I don't think it will be luck. He's probably going to make a great QB coach again. Moreover, maybe he's learned and this fresh start will be all it takes (plus a little revenge motivation) to really turn his career for the best.

I make of it that the Vols are the trendy pick by the chatter boxes to bounce back after a disappointing season... and I hope they're right.

But he said Florida is on the way down. The Gators havent done that much in recent years so if they go down anymore they will be where we were last year. And with their schedule it may be possible. Brutal

he also rated jeff samardzija a better reciever than dwayne jarrett... come on, now.
Direct question for you Texas Vol: would you rather have Charlie Weiss calling your number and Brady Quinn throwing you the ball, or Pete Carroll calling your number and Sanchez or JD Booty throwing you the ball?

herb is also the one that said something about Tenn. fans being more or less trailor trash. that was back in the 1990's; so i could care less about what he predicts!
