I've been thinking about this today, in light of the discussion over insta-hating on players who leave, especially for a rival team.
Of course anyone is free to automatically diss "jumpers", but is leaving to reach your full potential and/or play for a better team something we're just going to have to get use to? Espec if the no sit out rule passes?
Is it fair to ask players to waste a career, and they only get one, or to stay somewhere they're unhappy instead of seeking a new situation? Coaches do it all the time, leaving kids they recruited, and they do it for money. So its a character flaw if a kid does it? I actually wish Jamie had explored options instead of wilting on the vine here.
Of course this team hopping would be terrible for parity and would lead to a few super teams. But strictly from a players point of view, why would they not want to play where they have a chance to play for championships or at least be more competitive?
One thing the team hopping means for sure is that a coach better love recruiting, or have a staff who does. It would be endless recruiting, then re-recruiting, fighting to keep, looking to fill. Sounds pretty arduous.
