i wouldn't live at Criminole Ridge either. I'd really check out some of the places down Greenwood. easy drive to campus, not far from anything, but just far enough.

ETSU can't afford to have a football team. It makes absolutely no financial sense.

I still attend basketball games and baseball games. Doozer is right, the mini dome has got to go. Play Basketball at Freedom Hall if you have to. Everyone knows that place sees way too many dark nights anyway. I'm anxious to see what happens once all the new facilities get built. It could be fun times at ETSU if people will just get over the fact that football doesn't work at ETSU.

I remember reading the articles back in 2003 when there was talk of cutting back on one of the sports and football was the concern. I agree with another post on why they couldn't use the stadium where Science Hill played football until a new facility is built, one for football and one for basketball. I can remember when the Bucs pulled an upset on Ohio St in basketball years ago in the tournaments in the first round.
The Bucs play originally in the OVC with teams that are gone from that Conference now. Some of those teams were: Murray St, Eastern & Western Ky, Morehead, Tennessee Tech. Then they moved to the Southern Conferenceand played UT-Chattanooga and can't remember many of the other teams.
I'd like to see football brought back to ETSU and see them in either the OVC or Southern Conference.
I think poeple in the Tri-Cities area would support the team. It would take 3-4 years to make it competitive.
Depending on the conference they are in they could play some non-conference teams like Marshall(which could be tough at times), Richmond, Carson-Newman,
at least one Div I-AA team. Wouldn't be any worse than SMU when they got the "death penalty."
Can't the sports program afford the $ for the football progam. This is one east Tennessean who would go to games if they got a team back. Hey, ETSU is where I went for one year and one of my sisters graduated from there.
People from within 100 miles would come to the game. They could build a staduim to seat 30-40K and charge $25-$30 for tickets.

people aren't going to support it. It just won't happen. Spurrier Field isn't good enough for even an NAIA school to play on. It would be a joke. People from within 100 miles? Are you serious? So people would come to an ETSU game instead of going to Neyland, Blacksburg, or Boone? Please. That's insane. Who's going to build the stadium? Where is that kind of cash going to come from?
Let ETSU get their other facilities built and at least mostly paid for and see where the athletic department stands at financially. If they can support a football team, knowing they will see nothing but red numbers for at least 8 years, try it. There is no way ETSU can have any success, whether you view it through recruiting, the win column, or financially by playing at the Spurrier Field.
