ETSU Trying To Revive Football Again

There just isn't enough of a fanbase. Too many people would still rather drive 100 miles west to see UTK play, even the current brand of football. And once you get into Carter County and over the mountain you're losing out to Appy St. Southwest VA is obviously VT country. ETSU was throwing money away for years when they had football, and it will continue to be the trend if they revive it.

living in swva, I can promise you UT fans have a pretty clean split with VT with UK trailing a little behind. that being said, I'd live to see etsu bring football back.

depends on where you are, but I didn't mean to say that UT didn't have fans there. Just that there isn't room for tiny ETSU.

How many times per season would you make the drive to JC so you could see ETSU play?

I have season tickets, so maybe during a bye week? but point taken.

As far as the length of construction is concerned... Construction is weird like that. It looks like barely any progress is happening and then... Poof the project is completed. I would like to see it only if it doesn't take a huge financial scare to the students and community. I heard in the past it was successful. I know last time they claimed that it would be successful because all the money that would go towards it. And that they would try and schedule games on Thursdays and Fridays to try and not conflict with UT. It will not be an easy task.

Nobody showed up on Thursday either.

I have classes inside the dome everyday, and let me tell you that is literally falling apart. I totally agree with the poster that said they need to build an actual basketball arena. The way they have it configured for games is God awful, its no wonder that no one attends.

I went to school there not to long ago and and the attendance was pretty good. I absolutely love the dome. It's a land mark for the area and there are a lot of college buildings falling apart. It will have to be torn down eventually but I really enjoyed going to games there.

Didn't go to ETSU but lived in the JC area for years and I agree, it's a landmark. It could definitely have been done better, but I kind of enjoyed going to games there as well.

funny I grew up there and never once considered it a landmark. Next to the Smokies, the Nolichucky, Watauga and all the other natural beauty in the area, the only man made structures that would get my interest would be Historic Jonesborough and BMS.

I would think people that aren't from there, who went to school there would see it more as a landmark than people from there. All those places you mentioned have a special place in my heart. Great times. A lot of my friends never took advantage of the natural beauty around JC and they missed out.

Oh I completely agree. I was saying it was more of a landmark to East TN State not necessarily the area. I would take all of those over the mini-dome as more of a landmark to Upper East TN.
