Evan Russell not available tonight (Friday) now AVAILABLE

The media is honestly making this worse than it needs to be by trying to insinuate it’s something way worse than Tony is letting on. But, of course, what else would you expect from the media.

And Trey is a chode. A lot of FF drive by posters/pot stirrers in here I see.

True, he may just be respecting his privacy, but something seems fishy that they wouldn't simply say he was unavailable due to illness as soon as it was known. That coupled with Tony saying he doesn't expect a quick turnaround is a bit strange.
You haven’t been around many coaches if you think they are going yo be forthcoming. The only reason he said anything is because he had to.

It’s a pretty serious and sensitive issue that it probably best to let ER talk about when/if he is ready to do so. Which is why TV and others are being pretty vague. These kinds of things don’t exactly have a timetable but I wouldn’t expect him back. ER needs plenty of prayers and support right now.

Better have some good intel to call our coach a lair but I expect nothing less from Basilio than trying to stir the pot.

Basilio has not bashed Vitello at all. Basilio said that if Vitello is covering for something, it makes sense to not tell the next opponent any earlier than necessary that Russell is out. Vitello is on Basilio’s show every week. He’s not going to up and bash Vitello to stir the pot.

Damn. That’s just so sad. Hate it for Evan. Hate it for him soooooo much. Just a few days ago Evan was on the diamond hoisting an SEC trophy and pumping his team up saying “Job isn’t finished.” Now, he’s going through a tough situation. He fought so hard all year for this moment. Just damn.

Life is a bear. You just gotta appreciate every moment you have. Prayers up.

Evan Russell is a student athlete who could have literally anything going on in his life right now, from being sick to having some totally messed up family situation, who knows. Not me, and not my business. We have Olympians taking time off for being in a bad head space. Not everything needs to be news. CTV is a 43 year old man in his first head coaching gig and for all I know has never in his life been presented with whatever the heck specific situation is currently going on, and he just went with “he’s sick”. Maybe he is. Again, not my business. People whose livelihoods depend on clicks though are not who I’m looking to to “solve” a mystery I’m not entitled to a solution for.

With all the unsubstantiated rumors of a failed drug test, does anyone know the policy for program/NCAA testing? I’m sure there is some policy in place for our guys to be tested throughout the season. I do not see a guy like Russell making it all the way through the season and then deciding to use something around tournament time.
Yep and all the seasons before. ER is not God but from all indications he is straight up !

You sir are an attention seeker. The worst kind. Not to mention full of ****!
Interesting.
I still don’t understand how I can be full of it when I didn’t say anything that was inaccurate. I said I can’t wait to find out what the problem really is and that I was afraid it was a drug issue. I was! I said I hope that isn’t the case.
So, how exactly am I full of it?? You guys are just in the mood the be mad at someone tonight.

I don't understand why Tony didn't just tell us before the game that Evan was sick.

But I trust Tony has a good reason for that, and that he is doing the best thing for ER and the team. It's not necessary for me to understand everything about another's personal life.

And I believe coaches don't have the standing to divulge the nature of a player's absence without the specific permission of the player. And even if ER has given that permission, it's still CTVs call as to whether to divulge it to the public. That was settled this past basketball season with respect to Kellie Harper not divulging any details about injuries to a few of her players.

In CTV I trust.

I heard ER punched a toddler and stole his chocolate milk...
