Every MISSED Hold on James Pearce in SEC Play 2024

Good Lord..Some of our fans sound like damn whiney ass Alabama fans. They are still bitching about the refs from 22 and now this year. EVERY Oline has guys that hold 80% of the time. Ours do it all the time too. If they were to call all the Oline Holding, these games would take 6 hours to play. I'm quite sure a tape could be made on our Oline too.

On the last one: Block in the back is legal when players start on the line of scrimmage and remain in that area. Rule 2-17-3.
How far are we making this imaginary area? Because he was 7 yards deep behind the line of scrimmage.

Man that Arky game was so bad it looked fixed. I hope this video makes the rounds in the right circles.
The Arky game was crazy. Look at about the 3:00 min mark in the video. The blatant nature, out in the open, with the ref looking directly at it.

I would like all the official loverboys on here to explain that one. That is not incompetence, that is flat out intentionally not throwing the flag.

That was the most egregious along with the OU facemask. The RB for Arky just grabbed jersey and held on for life once he was past him. You could literally see his pads he pulled it back so far.

So you're saying the refs pick and choose which holding calls to make based on game length?

I don’t make the rules.
Well what you posted is the rule and it says “within that area.” Idk what universe they are from but 20 feet away is not in the line of scrimmage area. If illegal downfield is past 2-5 yards then block in the back sure as hell should be seen by that same guideline. I wish they could give coaches 2 challenges in a game and they could be used for any call, any time during the game. Doesn’t matter about judgement call or not. Because several times an official’s judgement is wrong.

I’m sure glad we have people like you and @CAVPUT on here who love UT so much that you can’t wait to degrade and belittle your fellow fans or crap on our players at every opportunity.

By the way, Prince Fant got tackled while the ball was still ten feet away on that PI in ‘22. So you and your Bammer buddies can get over it.

I love how he doesn't whine and complain after he's getting held. He just plays the next play knowing they can't stop him and he knows the nfl sees it too. Pearce is ridiculously good.... like von Miller good.

You could probably compile a similar list for just about every really good defensive end. I want those 8 minutes of my life back.
Yes…and that leads to a better understanding of the problem. If you just look at our player(s) it’s easy to get a persecution complex but the bigger picture is that the refs can’t see much because the game moves to fast for them. Officiating needs to look at how they can improve - probably by employing technology - their ability to see what’s going on…we the fans can watch every play from multiple angles in slow motion so we have a better view than the officials on many plays.

Most of those are legit, but some are just the way it works in football. Officials can't see everything on every play, but college football officiating has gotten as bad as college basketball officiating.

This happened last year too, especially towards the back half of the season once we had accrued too many injuries to be competitive against the top teams.

Bama fans (and UT “fans” that call it out) are just flat out wrong if this is the PI they are referring to. It’s every bit of PI

Holding happens on nearly every play but that video of how much it occurs with Pearce is insane. All of those were "flaggable" offenses that went uncalled and many of those (especially in the Arkansas game) could have definitely changed the outcome because it would have changed the scenarios and field position. That is huge. Regardless, we know officiating is a problem especially in the SEC with officials seeming to be biased in favor of schools like Georgia and Bama. Hopefully the team can score enough points to keep that from factoring in the outcomes of games.

Added thought: what makes almost all of these so egregious is that Pearce is widely considered a top pass-rushing prospect, so you would think an officials eyes would be glued on him and his matchups to avoid this kind of stuff.
