Everyone improving as season goes on but

You are making excuses. Every coach in America has had to deal with COVID. Some have done better jobs than others. To come up and say Cal (with all his 4* and 5* players ) is doing a good job this year by coaching the worst UK team in generations is asinine.
No, not every coach has dealt with the same issues. Some schools didn't practice for weeks and others were less affected, if at all.

Izzo, Calipari, Coach K, and Roy Williams are all underperforming as well. There's time to change but as of 2/28/21, a team that was projected to be a Top 10-15 team and to win the SEC is underperforming by playing .500ish ball in the SEC.

All of them are making improvements as the season is going along. Reduced practices in summer & reduction in games have hurt them. Mich st & UNC may make tourney. Cal would if the season started today. They’re in top half of SEC now. Nobody wants them in Nashville.

They all aren't the same but it cant be a universal crutch either....

UK sucked this year because of Cal, not COVID...

FB Sucked because of Pruitt, not COVID

There are 2 parts. How badly was each team infected by COVID and how young are the key players in the rotation? Cal and TN were certainly impacted significantly by the latter. Off season workouts were largely eliminated.

Teams full of primary players that were already familiar with their teammates have been better positioned to weather the disruptions of COVID. Just look at Gonzaga’s and Baylor’s rosters for the proof. Jalen Suggs is the only freshman making significant contributions to either team and Suggs is surrounded by veterans. Contrast that with TN which only had 2 of the first 7 players with more than a year of experience in TN’s program. Actually only 2 of the 13 on scholarship. And both of them have had injury issues that have limited their time.

Sure but I would more willing to buy this if we hadn’t gone 10-1 and haven’t had any COVID issues since December.

Juwan Howard and Michigan had to take 3 weeks off in January/February then came back and beat Wisconsin, Ohio State and Iowa plus two other top 40 kenpom teams. And he has three new players in his rotation from last year.

Season headed south after getting stomped at Florida, which was right after the house cleaning in the ADs office and the football side of the program, not sure of the connection, if any, but after that game the confidence and leadership have been sporadic, the losses at home picked up, late game folds on the road were common, not sure how you embarrass Kentucky on the road and then go non competitive against the same team at home, but there is an internal failure in team chemistry that continues to manifest itself at the most inopportune times.

COVID issues after December have zero to do with not having preseason workouts.

6 of Michigan’s 8 leading scorers are 5 Seniors and a Junior. Hunter Dickinson might be a freshman, but he’s over 7’ and 250+. Learning his role of hanging out in the paint is probably the least challenging one in the rotation.

Again we were 10-1 in January with solid wins over Colorado, Arkansas and Missouri and played Alabama well with Springer only playing 5 minutes. If we had started out slow then sure the lack of preseason workouts make sense. But it doesn’t because we’re are majorly regressing. What’s more likely is that more film on our simple offense has led to teams scouting us better and shutting down our stuff and we aren’t able to adjust.

The first 6 wins were at home and Barnes had a week to prepare for Cuonzo.

Could also explain solid wins and not starting out slow as an alternative reason to assembling the book to neutralize the freshmen. Actually the freshmen were brought along at a measured pace. I stand by my assertion that COVID disrupting the off season had a greater negative impact on teams more heavily reliant on their freshmen.

Playing them or depending on them exclusively? Arkansas’s 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th leading scores are JRs and SRs. KY’s freshmen are elite.

Another problem with Keon and Springer leading TN is that their offensive skill sets overlap quite a bit. Too bad one of them isn’t a true PG or a bigger post. Same with CJ and Vescovi. They really aren’t complementary players. TN is basically 5x 2s/3s without a true PG or center.

They do but it can work we just don’t run the right offense for it

Vols are far from the only team experiencing a lot of inconsistency this year. I kinda give them a bit of a pass because of that. We are still going to be a single digit seed in the tournament and that's a pretty significant improvement from last year. Winning a game in the tournament would suffice for this team.

Really? OK, maybe a 9 seed. Loose a couple more and go 1 and done in the SEC tourney, and lookout. Miss it completely. Which they ain't winning it anyhow so--

I think it would have payed dividends in a normal year where they were able to spend much more time together in formal pre-season workouts. I think that it’s a big change for both of them to find a just as good teammate to kick to.

That is a fact. Musselman is a damn basketball coach.
I bet you said the same thing about Frank Martin a few years back.
Look, everyone had high expectations for this squad, we get it. There are still games to be played, so when the final seconds tick off the clock of our last loss of the season, I’ll weigh in. Until then, I’m just going to enjoy it for what it is and hope Barnes and this team make us all look foolish, in March.
GBO!!

Barnes is right.....we have no post play. It has disappeared. We need a big man.....said it all year.

I'm not sure if he is or not...but, I'm certain that KY is playing better as a team, as the season progresses. Makes all the difference in the world...whether he gets credit or not....no clue. I hater KY btw.....
