Eviction Moratorium

Supreme Court says letting the Biden administration keep the eviction moratorium in place Could Open The Door To Mandates for 'free grocery delivery for the sick and vulnerable and free computers to let Americans work from home'

  • Conservatives on the Supreme Court said extending eviction moratoriums could lead to government mandates on 'free grocery delivery and free computers'
  • 'Could the CDC mandate free grocery delivery to the homes of the sick or vulnerable?' the majority opinion reads from the six conservatives on the court
  • 'Require manufacturers to provide free computers to enable people to work from home? Order telecommunications companies to provide free Internet?'
Conservatives on the Supreme Court said that allowing the eviction moratorium to continue could set a precedent for government mandated 'free grocery delivery' and 'free internet' for people to work from home.

'Preventing [landlords] from evicting tenants who breach their leases intrudes on one of the most fundamental elements of property ownership—the right to exclude,' the majority opinion reads from the Thursday decision.

I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our landlords - we did. [wink] But you can't hold all tenants responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole property rental system? And if the whole property rental system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our land ownership institutions in general? I put it to you, @agVOL90 - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but I for one am not going to stand here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America.

Gentlemen!
Well done

In Memphis they can't get a judge to sign an eviction order for simple non payment.
I’ve been lucky. I have a few “low income” rentals in Memphis ($400-$500 per month).

All of my tenants have paid throughout this whole ordeal. I have no idea if they received any aid to keep paying - but the checks kept rolling in.

And this will be a problem for all of those that took advantage of the eviction moratorium. That will be on their credit history and they will have trouble finding housing.
Well, I’m sure there is a Congressman somewhere with a bill that would outlaw utilizing credit checks with regards to private housing.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Statement on Supreme Court Ruling on Eviction Moratorium Says Eviction is a Horror That No Family Should Ever Have to Experience

so, there’s 45 billion in rental assistance from previous Covid packages that hasn’t been distributed and a new bill is being introduced by 9/13 for an additional 20 billion???
probably going to go in a few Dems pockets -- so why arent the squatters getting any of this money to pay up ? They just keep running around whining with No Eviction signs for the MSM to photograph

From what I can tell there is a lot of money floating around out there, but the states are in charge of administering the distribution. They can't or won't make it a simple process to get to the money. Maybe they need to work on that first.

well you know government jobs go to who ?

It's getting bad when the reps don't even understand the job they were elected to do. It's literally why you're there

The lack of knowledge of people the democrats elect is astounding. They basically elect sjw's.

MSM must be slacking - Ive not read any articles about this mass eviction that supposedly going to happen

14 percent isnt a huge number - the MSM idiots and politicans just cooked the numbers like over 4 million. I am willing to bet its no where near that and its just the ones that wont work
45 million, or there abouts, rent. That makes 14% about 6 million people.

That would be a huge number of new homeless, with ruined credit scores, and few prospects going forward. Got to love the government making a problem worse, so they can later give themselves more power to do the same thing again later.

A serial squatter who has avoided paying the mortgage on his home for 23 years will finally be evicted after a judge ruled he is not covered by COVID protections.

Guramrit Hanspal, 52, who has been living in his three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath East Meadow home for free for over 20 years is facing eviction after Nassau County Housing Court Judge William Hohauser ruled that he does not qualify for COVID protections because he is an illegal squatter and not a renter.

Three different owners have tried to kick the 52-year-old from the home since he was foreclosed upon by Washington Mutual in 2000.

Probably in the US illegally too - give him a 1 way plane ticket to Iraq

Unemployment is around 5%. Tons of places are hiring. There is ZERO reason for anyone not to be paying rent or on their mortgage with the jobs available out there.

Well, unless of course you're a typical dem passing on that $17 WaWa gig while you hold out for that lucrative CEO of some company job or your clothing line/rap cd goes viral.

Left church and wanted to eat at somewhere different today that we normally don’t. Went to McCalisters and the dining room was closed due to lack of employees. Went to BoJangles and same thing. Went to Cheddars and it was a 2 hour wait due to only 3 servers who were working all day. We gave up and headed back home and went to Grants Kitchen which we eat at regularly and somehow is staffed.

I eat at home 99% of the time. Doing my part to keep over "educated" liberals poor.
