So you paint the people who believe that Obama is a Socialist as uneducated hillbillies.
Way to go!!
Sounds just like the "you are a racist" label given to the tea party. You dont agree, hen you demonize the individual.
Thats Ok!! Thats just how you have been taught to respond by the media. You dont know any different
like the very popular racist label?
If you read what I say here closely, you will note that I am careful to say that not everyone within an organization or a movement can be characterized a certain way. And I think it goes without saying that, even as to those that could, there are going to be degrees of it.
Also, I have frequently noted that racism is not always about dislike or hatred of another race, in fact these days it is largely a proxy for other things, such as disdain for that segment of the population that many feel is overusing and abusing the entitlement system.
Case in point: I've read a number of people arguing in the last few days that the Dems are racist because they keep blacks on welfare by promoting social programs.
Obviously, the assumption within that is that blacks are more likely, not just to be on welfare (use the term loosely), but abusing and misusing welfare.
What underlies my point is that it becomes so easy to see a poor black person as a proxy for entitlement abuse, not working, drain on my taxes, etc., and to assume that the fact of race and class status compels the conclusion that it is likely that person is on and abusing social programs.
It becomes circular and all too convenient to believe that a poor black person is more likely to be costing you money in the form of taxes. Let me ask: I wonder how much MORE the wealthy white doctor costs you in taxes via Medicare overuse or billing than does the other guy on the other side of the tracks.
All I ask is that people think about their own suppositions along the way. Me included.
