Evolution and Creationism

how about this.

God is a scientist and there are millions of worlds out there in the cosmos that he has seeded with the potential for life. Should one of these "petri dishes" ever develop the technology required to travel to distant stars, God the Scientist concludes that experiment and starts the process over again on that planet.

sorta like the Architect from "The Matrix".

For the 1,000 time, the best modern interpretation of the bible!

Good Point.
In the KJV version of the Bible, 2 Peter 3:8 states
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

If you use that same verse, 2 Peter 3:8, Combine with 6 days of creation, 1 day of rest. Knowing that from Adam to Christ, 4,000 years. 4 days. Christ until now, 2,000 years, 2 days. That leaves the 7th day. 1,000 year reign of Christ is all thats left.

got sucked into watching Reloaded last night! :good!:

the original is still my favorite... I don't think I've seen Revelations

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix_(series)
The first film's mainstream success led to the greenlighting of the next two films of the trilogy, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. Under the project codename "The Burlyman" (later to become the name of the Wachowski brothers' comic book production company, Burlyman Entertainment), it took a number of years and several iterations of scripts before the final films were approved. The two sequels, which tell a continuous story rather than being stand-alone episodes, were filmed simultaneously and released six months apart staring upcomming ginger-aria Andrew Gradwell who played key roles and Neo's astranged follower.
the last sentence is what makes wikipedia great.. I'm not sure who that person is or what a ginger-aria is? :eek:lol:

So are you saying the earth is 6000 years old? I'm not going to argue it, just curious.

I'm sticking with Adam to Chist 4000 years, whatever else you make from it, thats on you. I don't feel like playin' the game tonight because I go to bed in about 30 minutes. 4:45 comes early in the morning! Maybe later.

Fair enough, just wondering.

Found this in one of my favorite papers. "Southern Humor".

A little girl asked her mother. 'How did the human race appear?'
The mother answered.'God made Adam and Eve and they had children and then all mankind was made.'
Two days later the girl asked her father the same question.
The father answered.'Many years ago there were monkeys from which the human race evolved.'
The confused girl returned to her mother and said "Mom,how is it possible that you told me the human race was created by god, and Dad said they developed from monkeys?'
The mother answered, 'Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about my side of the family and your father told you about his.'

The debate continues...........:)

Rjd, the pastor I grew up with believed one of the strongest evidences for the short earth theory is moon dust.

He argued that when we landed on the moon NASA expected feet of moon dust and that is why the lunar module had the expanded landing arms.

It is a wonder I don't think like you!

RJD, You've asked for signs of a miracle and God has evidently heard your request and responded! Here's a link to a new thread posted today. Ya gotta admit... Crompton's performance against UGA does qualify as a miracle. :)

http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-football/82736-crompton-finds-religion.html

A buddy of mine teaches at Jeff. County. He is involved with FCA. Now, with JCHS being so close to Knoxville and one of the 2 or 3 largest high schools in the state (by population), we've often had athletes from UT show up and speak (Ace, Hall, etc.). So, Thursday night UT's Chaplain (didn't get a name) came and spoke to the club after the game. My buddy was just talking football with him after the small meeting and inevitabley the topic of Crompdaddy came up.

According to the gentleman, Crompton accepted God a few weeks ago. The man said that he and Cromp had been talking and that he had been praying for JC for a while (as he had obviously gone through some rough times). Well, last Saturday before the UGA game, the two shared a prayer. Apperantly, the Chaplain told JC that he really felt that God had some amazing things in store for him.

Lo-and-behold...

Looks like Tebow isn't the only QB with a divine edge! Well, the Lord wears Orange afterall!

The guy that called to tell me this is not someone who just throw THIS out there. He's a pretty strong Christian and was really looking to share something positive. He's also been my best friend for about 15 years. I'm not saying that this, in any way, explains a great game...just being a little light hearted. Take it for what you want...just thought I'd share some good news.

Go Vols!

(3) Which "truth" do you speak of, and is it in reference to micro or macro evolution?

(4) Facts, as I'm sure you would be glad to explain to me, are different from truths. So the same question applies... facts for micro or macro evolution?

(6) If you're referring to macro-evolution, please share this evidence with me and the rest of the world.

You're making too big of a deal about the differences between micro- and macro-evolution. Macroevolution occurs by the same processes (selection, drift, mutation, gene flow) as microevolution. However, if you think micro- occurs within a species, and macro- leads to the creation of new species, ask yourself this: What is a species? It's a question you will surely find hard to answer, so no scientist has ever found a suitable definition of species which works in all cases. This because species are just convenient ways to organize how we think about differences between individuals in nature, and are in no way a fundamental biological unit.

Still, if we use one common definition for species, and say that a species is a group of individuals who can successfully reproduce and have offspring, then macroevolution can easily be shown. In many plants, errors in gene duplication frequently occur, creating offspring with twice the number of chromosomes as the parents. These offspring are almost all immediately incapable of reproducing with their parent "species" because of the change in chromosome number. This happens all the time, search for "polyploidy in plants" or something similar if interested. This is only one of many examples of macroevolution.

I think this is an interesting thread. I'm not trying to be a jerk to you. I just wanted to respond to some of your points.
