so the educational pedigree isn't that important?
I'll remember that next time you trot out the "Obama is smart, he went to Harvard" line of crap.
media matters = joke
Here is the fundamental flaw in the study.
The methodology was to take a preset view of bias scores by a liberal group as to Congresspeople. Then, the study counted up the number of times that a particular Congressperson mentioned a think tank, with no regard whatsoever for context.
The designation given the Congressperson was then used to assign a bias score to the think tank. The study then simply counted up the number of times that think tank was mentioned by each of the media outlets.
Here's the problem: If a conservative Congressperson mentioned a think tank's opinion and criticized it, and then a liberal Congressperson responded, there was no accounting at all for whether the remarks were favorable or critical. That is to say, there was an enormous, and often errant assumption made that a citation to a think tank by a given Congressperson was citing that think tank with approval !!!!
You want proof? Here's a shocker: According to their scoring system, the ACLU came out on the conservative side of the ledger.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha !!!!!
Don't for one second pretend that this "study" has any value, whatsoever.
wait, you used MEDIA MATTERS??
talk about losing all credibility
No good sir, ignoring the content and attacking the source is a loss of credibility. The "esteemed" PhD's "findings" were destroyed.
While I'll concede that many news outlets are left leaning, Fox "News" is off the charts with their pull to the right. I'll give it to them though, Roger Ailes is an absolute master at blurring the lines between fact and opinion. Heck, Murdoch himself admits that he uses opinion to "shape" the agenda.
Why is this even a discussion? The psychology of the news networks is very simple:
For the most part, people read/watch channels that they enjoy and/or agree with. Are you telling me that the fact that the vast majority of people that watch Fox News are Conservatives is because Fox News is "Fair and Balanced"? Puhleeeeease. Conservatives watch Fox News because Fox News caters to their point of view. Same goes for MSNBC. It's slanted to the left and is clearly pandering to libs.
To claim Fox News isn't clearly slanted to the right is very silly. Just call a spade a spade. Conservatives flock to Fox News for a reason. Conservatives flock to TP rallies for a reason. Conservatives, by and large, don't watch MSNBC and enjoy what they hear or watch. You won't find many Conservatives at OWS rallies, either.
It's all about target markets.
