Example of what OWS is all about

Here's where I disagree - money isn't the problem. A system that rewards cronyism is.

If politicians didn't take money then make/enforce laws and regulations to favor the payor then money wouldn't matter.

Hate the game.

They do it for the money. WS spends the money on the politicians in order to make more money.

This is hilarious. This judge doesnt think the $280 million is enough and basically wants these cases to go to court where it's Citigroups white shoe lawyers vs the clowns down at the SEC

I acknowledge the inconsistency. I'm not sure what the answer is. But obviously the banking, investment, and finance industry has proven itself of late to be extremely untrustworthy.

The solution is pretty easy. Don't trust 'em. If a car lot in town sells a lot of lemons, then I don't shop there. I go somewhere I deem trustworthy. I don't need someone to hold my hand. I don't think someone should shut down the car lot that sells lemons. I just think people need to be smart enough, and accept enough personal responsibility, to research and make good decisions.

Can the free market get so big, and individuals in it so powerful, that it doesn't work? Theoretical question, to be sure, but is it not the case that the entire country, if not the world, was taken for quite the ride by the most powerful financial institutions in the world?

I don't know the answer to your question. Let's try a free market and see what happens. Since what we have is far from being a free market, then I don't think it will be very useful as an example.

Then you aren't looking.

Besides which, the source of the problem is the money. That all leads back to WS, ergo that is where the focus ought to be.

This is the source of the problem. I believe this to be a direct result of the the abandoning of the original setup in the constitution when the Federal Reserve Act was enacted and the income tax was enacted. The original intent by the founders was that the Federal government apportion the several states to pay there share. That's why the senators from each state were originally elected by there respective state legislatures. It is easier for the people to control their local politicians than a monster in DC. Take away their power to tax and watch the power go back to the states and therefore the people. When you empower the few with control over the wealth of the individuals, you will eventually end up with corruption and cronyism. That is where we are now. We need a monumental shift.
