am looking for him to win some close football games, that under Dooley went to our opponent, except for the 2011 Vandy game, the UAB game and the Troy game.

If he can win the close games and steal some recruits from other programs. I don't mean that he stole a 2* or 3* from Florida or Bama but I mean for him to steal a really coveted player from them, then I will start to believe.

Yeah, lets all run out and buy a bunch of new big orange gear and flock into the stadium next year and buy those $7.00 cokes and get all excited and suffer through several more seasons before we even sniff anything close to an SEC east title.

I'm excited. No matter what Jones is an improvement. He will, at worst imo, go 6-6 next season going by the numbers. I firmly believe his team will be disciplined and hard-hitting on D and play fast and fun on Offense. I'm not predicting anything more than effort that we can all get behind as fans. I think he'll turn out similar to Mark Richt hire. Competitive but a NC is fleeting.

Coach Jones is a high energy guy and that should excite everybody! We have endured some abuse with the past 5 years but if you research him, it is easy to see that this is a job he sees as HIS big break! If he is not successful, it will not be due to lack of effort!

Saban, Meyer, and Miles have all moved up through the ranks the same way. If he wins here, it gives hope to the young coaches at every school! I just hope the players buy into his system! That will make or break him earlier!

GO VOLS!! GOOD LUCK, COACH!!

You are on point my friend. He could have settled for a nice raise and stayed at cincy forever, but he took the challenge of coming to Tenn. knowing that he would get no free pass and would need to show improvement NOW!!! No one else we offered took that challenge. CBJ has a set. The others did not. I like his resume and I think he should be given a chance!!!!

Ill be the first to admit I wasnt excited about this hire. I watched his PC and to me he sounded a lot different than Dooley or even Kiffin. This guy was nervous as crap because I believe he loves this place that much. He wants us to return to greatness and will do everything he can to get us there. Will there be bumps in the road? your damn right. Will we win a few big games? You damn right we will. We finally have coaches that can coach and recruit not one or the other. If you dont want to go to Neyland dont go, let someone else buy the ticket you wanted so they can. In closing, I will give my all for Tennessee Today.

Butch brought energy to the press conference. I was not happy at first then I realized the "home run" hire..well be honest it wasn't There for us. I bought into the Gruden rumors up until the night before Butch was hired. I love this school I think we have a quality coach. I SUPPORT HIM WHOLE HEARTEDLY!! Recruit them coach them up and we'll be fine. We were in every game (except bama) one or two plays here and there and Dooley is still coaching this team. Go Butch & GO VOLS

That's OK though. Volnation is a very tolerant website. It allows the "wait and see" fans and "bandwagon" fans such as Patrick and youself to post freely and wallow in you pigstye of doubt and constant sorrow.

Myself and many other Vol fans choose to be excited, try your very best not to piss on our parade, if at all possible.:nono:

I think that most Vol fans are at least somewhat excited just because we hired a new coach....and with a new coach comes some hope....let's face it we all need hope to exist and there's no difference in our dream to become competitive once again. Coach Jones will need some luck recruiting, because we've all seen how that just 1 or 2 extraorinary athletes can indeed bring a program back to life....I'm not saying we will not need sound recruiting to go with the needed luck.....all we have now is hope and maybe just maybe with a little luck and good recruiting we can once again become competitive.....we will know in 2-3 years the direction that we are headed
I didn't like the hire but now all we can do is Hope!
