Excluding Hooker/Dobbs, is there a QB in the last 10 years you would rather have on the field than Joe?

Why would anyone who calls themself a Tennessee fan wish this? Jg was the worst qb to start over multiple seasons in school history. He lost the starting job a wsu to a 6ft walkon. He was a terrible quarterback, he threw the same amount of picks in one half that Joe has thrown in 5 games. Heupel couldn’t help him…
Idk that JG would’ve been better under Heupel but I can guarantee he would’ve been on the bench if he hadn’t improved as a QB. Idk how good guys like Worley, JG, etc would’ve been. We forget that Hooker was at best mediocre at Va Tech.

This is a bit like asking, "Excluding Ginger and Maryanne, is there any person on Gilligan's Island you'd more like to date than Mrs. Howell?"

I like Joe a lot as a person, and support him 100% as long as he wears orange. Just don't see how your question helps cement his legacy in any of our minds. He is the best option we've got, and we roll with him.

Go Vols!

I think I'd rather be a judge in the "Miss Sea Cucumber" contest.

Man I’m convinced that JG was paid to come here, and that his dad had them by the balls. Jeremy Pruitt literally said Guarantano gave them the best chance to win football games before every game until the allegations of paying players went public, then he immediately benched him for good. Add that to the fact that Guarantano’s father who was a retired cop , all the sudden turned into a land developer in the Nashville area while JG was still at Ut. Imo there was a lot more to “he’s gives us the best chance to win football games” than what you were seeing on the field.

For perspective, complaining about a talent like Joe is kind of a "luxury problem" to have for us these days. I say that because if you could replace him with any other QB in the "Dark times of UT football", who else would you want from these choices? I used all the starting QB's I can think of from the last 10 years.

Worley
Peterman (The Tennessee version)
Dormady
Keller Chryst
JG
Will McBride
JT Shrout
Maurer
Harrison Bailey

Personally, I'm taking Milton over this list 10/10 times.

You could go back a little further and add Bray to the discussion and that might kick up some opinions, but I'm not sure he's a great fit for Heup's system. I'd probably still rather have Joe.
This list is depressing and I choose not to consider it further lol

Hard to say with the poor caliber of coaches we've had coaching these guys. I would have loved to see what Heupel could dial up with Tyler Bray, though....... That would have been fun to watch. Being the smartest kid on that short bus though is not exactly a great endorsement.

He had the arm .

LOL....seeing that in print makes me wonder why I kept asking why we suck....Milton .....hands down!

I’m not going to lie, I had thought JG must have some pretty good pics of someone in a compromising position when they left him in a few times. There was a point where you could see the team just give up around him.

Let’s see. Dobbs was here for 4 years and Hookers was here for 2 years. So, in the last 10 years only , only 4 years would be considered when they were not here. In addition, those 10 years were some of the worst teams Tennessee has ever put on the field. It would be difficult to put any other QBs would come close to being better.

I'd go Worley... good making quick reads and decisions. Doesn't have the physical tools of Milton, but a much higher footballl IQ, imo.... Joe just doesn't make the correct decisions. If we still had Hooker we'd be 5-0, and outscoring our opppoents by a million, because he made the right decisions.
And, putting the ball on the money.
