Every non UT, objective CFB fan that I have spoken with were wowed by Crompton. Say what you will about his mistakes, he brings a new dimension and a competitive fire to this football team.

I grew up in WNC. I've heard people say that Crompton compared physically to Heath Shuler and was just as tough but was smarter... He showed signs Saturday of living up to it.

.........and a loss to LSU. If Ainge plays, they win. Period. Ainge IS one of the top 3 QB's in the country and will be again next year. I'd love to see a package for Crompton maybe rolling out or running a bit. The only ones even related to UT football that are/will be talking controversy are us. That guy earlier was right. It's already started. GIVE ME A FRIGGIN' BREAK! Lets take a RS Soph over a Senior who is in the top 15 in every statistical category.

Ainge is still not right between the ears. If you think QB play lost that game Saturday your opinion is irrelevant to me, and I am hardly ever that direct.
Justin Harrell's abscence is the only one that had a direct contribution to that loss.

I agree, he looks interesting. But he did nothing that would come close to taking the job away from Ainge.

What does the guy have to do???????

ANYONE that thinks Tennessee lost the game because Crompton played instead of Ainge needs their head examined.

That's as foolish as it comes right there.

I am not saying that was the ONLY contributing factor to the loss. I AM saying UT is much more efficient with Ainge in at QB and maybe our defense isn't on the field for 2/3 of the game. You do have a point about our interior D line giving up 230 something yds rushing-HARRELL was missed.

The thing that fires me up is the fact that we have a proven QB who gets hurt, a guy comes in and plays well LIKE HE'S SUPPOSED TO, and all the sudden we are gonna crown the young guy the savior without giving Ainge a chance to rebound.

It might not have mattered on the scoreboard, but I think you're kidding yourself a little if you think Crompton managed the game as well as Ainge would have. I think Crompton actually did a good job under the circumstances, but I also think that if Ainge had played at 100%, we would have held onto the ball for more than 18 minutes.

I will say that a healthy Erik Ainge would have beaten LSU. Call me foolish but thats the way i see it.

I will bet you money that if Crompton comes out against Arky and stinks it up (believe me i do not want that) ya'll will be jumping back on EA's bandwagon w/ the quickness

I think we win 9 or 10 games next year.

Yeah, I agree but the losses will almost certainly be conference losses and probably cost us a shot at the SEC championship again. Eight straight years with out a SEC championship and only 2 SEC championships over 14 seasons is far less than what UT should be achieving.

at Cal ?
Southern Miss W
at Florida ?
N.Illinois W
Central Fl. W
UGA ?
at Miss St. W
at Bama ?
S.Carolina ?
Arky ?
Vandy W
Kentucky W

I think it's fair to say we'll go 3-3 or 4-2 in those 6 ? games.

I actually think we'll win out in the 2nd tough stretch @ Bama, SC and Arkansas. I think Cal, Florida, and Georgia will define our 2007. @ Cal and @ Florida are going to be nationally hyped games to the MAX.

Crompton did not do anything to contribute to the loss. But Ainge would have given us a better chance to win. For one, I am sure play selection was slimmed down to help Crompton. Two, Crompton is not at the level of checking off to the second or third receiver on a route and delivering a good pass, consistently, yet. Third, I noticed us throwing to Lucas Taylor and Josh Briscoe for some reason. The only reason I could think of is because that is who Crompton is used to throwing to in practice, Bret Smith and Swain were practically MIA in that game, which helps LSU.

Im not ready to talk about next year yet. For me it all hinges on Meachem. Without Meachem we get blown out on Saturday. And we still have yet to see any of our other wr's step up. We know they have talent, but it hasnt translated to field production. Iirc, Briscoe had yet another drop in the lsu game.

If Meachem stays, we're a great team. If he leaves, we'll be a good team.

I'm not a Vol fan, but I disagree.

You were ranked higher than LSU, and you played them at home. I think that is a game that you should expect to win.

I guess you do get points for playing the game with your backup qb.
