Exhibit A Of Why I Can't Watch Soccer

For me it is...better than watching two teams running up and down the field for 90 minutes..only to settle 0-0 score on penalty kicks with the occasional break so the ambulance and medical crews can evaluate a serious injury ..only to have the player hop up after 5 minutes to resume play

Yeah and watch people get butt hurt over someone flipping a bat and then turnaround and start a brawl over it.

Just goes to show most of you have no idea about the sport. And if you want to talk boredom there is always a lengthy discussion for baseball being #1. Awful sport which is losing viewers and participation

The best thing to happen to baseball was the Cubs winning because it made people watch, but otherwise yeah the sport's fanbase is shrinking big time.

I have to admit, baseball is in huge trouble and will be passed by hockey or soccer as the 3rd sport within a generation..I'll still go to 40-50 games a year though...my nine year old plays catch with me but doesn't care to learn the game...we play soccer in the yard nearly every day though

Exhibit A: no one knows what they are talking about.

Huh?

I never said it was worse than other sports, I said HE said he didn't like soccer because flopping is worse in it and he said it wasn't why then immediately said it was because it was worse than other sports.

It's a great sport, maybe you should watch it and learn because your son will be playing soccer it sounds like.

Not sure about hockey, ratings wise it's in worse shape than baseball.

Soccer probably will but at the same time the MLS is hard to guage.

Come on....The block/charge flop probably happens 5 times a game in basketball.

Happens all the time. But there is a difference between guys trying to draw a charge and falling to the floor, as if shot by a sniper hiding the rafters, every time contact is made.

Soccer's flopping problem is more egregious and widespread because guys will give up quality scoring changes, or movement down the field that could result in good scoring chances, in favor of drawing a foul. They'd rather take a free kick from a good area or potentially get a penalty than carry out the scoring chance.

If he does I'll take him to every practice and go to every game but still won't watch any professional matches..I just don't enjoy it...I also don't watch any golf, NBA, or tennis...he's Autistic so I doubt he would play in a league....he would get preoccupied with counting the blades of grass :)

Soccer is more boring than watching paint dry

No matter what sport we are talking about, it's hard to get into it unless you have a decent understanding of strategy and have been to a live game with a great atmosphere.

I can't watch any sport in which the score is many time 1-0 after several hrs of play...

90 minutes is "several hours"?

It's a chess match and chess often ends in a stalemate. Hell, look at MMA. It's one of the most exciting sports and fights often end up as split decisions with little damage done. Or how about a 1-0 pitcher's duel? Like I said, it's enjoyable to people who understand the chess match.
