Expectations for 2023 season

To me, it's no more putting a floor or ceiling on a season the way we all did this year with the 8-4 talk. Expect the best and let the chips fall - right now 12-0 is the goal until it isn't, then it will be 11-1.

We have no real idea of what the team will look like next year, whether it will be Milton or someone else at QB, how improved Milton might be after an off season with JH, what kind of impact players we'll find in the portal, how the young players will develop and step up into key roles, and so on and so on.

Instead of putting some sort of artificial cap on the season as a defense mechanism, hope for and expect the best.

Well obviously none of us are clairvoyant and can see the future. But its pretty safe to assume that the offense will take a dip in production next year due to the loss of Hooker and some other key players. We are not yet at the point like Georgia or Alabama where we just reload every year. We arent recruiting at that level yet, and may never. So until this staff starts consistently turning in top 5 classes year over year, Im going to expect rebuilding years, mixed with some double digit winning years.

My expectation is for us to have another winning season. Beyond that, to upgrade the defense enough so that the offense doesn't have to fully carry us game after game.

performance prediction:
better defense
less qb performance

8-4 at least
9-3 expected
anything better is cake

The floor is 7-5 and the ceiling is 10-2, possibly 11-1. We have a lot of unknown commodities on the schedule. Will A&M rebound next year? What will Alabama be without Bryce? Kentucky should be down. Florida could have another down year but I think Billy will right the ship at some point. If rattler goes pro there’s no telling what SC will be. The non-conference schedule should be a route.

I think this is a good take.

OOC schedule needs to be swept (we cannot stub our toe against Va). After that, Alabama and Georgia will be very tough (sorry to the delusional group on here, but it will take time to get the roster to that level)…but the other six conference games are winnable (some are certainly loseable, too).

It’s largely going to come down to whether we have an above-average QB. That might not be Milton. And it will be an unknown until we’ve played a few games next fall.

I think 9-3 would be really good…8-4 would be solid and keep things headed in the right direction…7-5 a touch disappointing but not a disaster. 10-2 or better would be another incredible coaching job…worthy of COY consideration.

Unless Milton's accuracy improves, it'll be a step back. Not sure what that number would be, though I expect it to be substantial.
