It is almost like people stick their heads into the sand and refuse to understand; this is a NEW coaching staff; this is a team that did not make it to a bowl game last year.

You must control you expectations. We are not a team who is going to alleviate all your concerns in the first or second difficult game. Butch is recruiting well, please wait and see what his boys do.

You guys (not all of you) are falling all over your selves to destroy this coaching staff. Give them a chance. And I do not mean one game or 5 games. Give them a chance... a season to fix this. It is going to take a while. ...Anyway Go Vols regardless. or for you guys who don't care about vocabulary.... irregardless

It's always tough to lose....in fact, I hate it! But as you have said we must temper our expectations.

When I see just the slightest amount of logic in a coaching decision I will give them props. But if they continue to make in game decisions like was made today I will continue to be critical.

We'll beat S. Al. Lose to GA, AL, and SC, we'll split with MO, Aub, KY, and Vanderbilt. That will leave us at 5-7. Expect a similar season next year too. Hopefully win 6 or 7 the following season.

I have said for months that 6-6 with a bowl game was a solid season. Nothing has changed. For fans saying otherwise are unrealistic. We get too high and too low after every week. This staff will get time, and to bash them after 4 games is dumb. They are here for awhile a d we may as well settle in. Patience is lost in today's society.

i pray they do. it is just a matter of someone realizing that the team will follow if they are a leader. The issue is we are dealing with 17-21 year old's. Leadership can be learned, but at this point no one has. It is not something that is going to occur over night.

You pray for someone who find it natural to be a leader and unfortunately we do not have that. Butch has to have the time to groom someone to be a leader. it is going to take more than a preseason and 3 games to do that.

I expected to lose to the last two games so our record is where I expected.. however I see some disturbing trends with these coaches mainly if something isn't working n costing u the game u change.. not going on some of the 4th downs at the ducks n then leaving peterman n so long is a little alarming..

Either they r hard headed n refuse to change or they r frozen n shocked because the game isn't working like practice n they can't adapt.. those r two trends that don't make many vol fans happy happy happy........

But, and i do not want to make excuses, without the talent, how can you criticize?

I wil give you, they are not prepared. I do not know if this is from coaching or they are just overwhelmed.

Seriously. Let me say this. On the ball that slipped out of Petermans hand and went 5 yards or so and was intercepted. Why do you even call a pass play at that point. We hadn't done anything in the passing game, the ball was on the 27, it was like 3rd and 11, you're down 10-7, points is a premium especially with an anemic offense. Why not just run it and try to kick a field go to tie the game at that point. I think that would have left 5 min or so till half time. I am very frustrated with some of the in game decisions being made.

Everyone should end there night on that quote. Shut volnation down now and everyone go to bed. Patience is key.

Well, as a fan base, I think Vols fans have been pretty patient, for the last 5 years. Since 2008, all we have heard is that we are "rebuilding".

But things have changed. Kiffin won 7 games. If this were still DD, I would agree. But you can't expect a first year coach after three losing seasons to beat 2 top 25 teams on the road in his first 4 games. If so, you are unrealistic. If you are upset at the way it happened, the fine. But our fans are out of control. I know it's been a long, tough road, but it's not CBJ's fault. He needs your patience. It is a process and if you expect much more, I am sorry for you. It's a trait that is getting lost. Society wants it now, damn it. Really sad.

I predicted 5-7. things are on track to match my expectations or exceed them. Today's showing was MUCH better than I expected. We may be turning quicker than I thought

Our fan base has to quit thinking that Our current roster is like the one from the late 90's

I expect a great coach to make an impact that results in players performing better regardless of who recruited them or what their actual talent level is. Jones has specifically said that these players bought completely into his program. Either he lied... or there is something wrong with the "program". These players are not playing better than they did before. In fact, the OL's pass blocking isn't nearly as good as it was in the past.

Take a look at the roster for '14... if they can't fix it with Srs all over the place... why should we believe they'll fix it with Fr all over the place?

Actually, our fanbase has to quit thinking our current roster is as bad as Nicholl's St or Toledo.

your problem is thinking Butch is a great coach. that has not been determined yet and was not great when he was hired. if you felt he was, your bad. if you didn't think he was great, you need to temper expectations until he proves it one way or the other.

Great coaches do not become great in game one of their coaching life

Until the right coach emerges... not saying yet that it isn't Jones... just that the difference will be a coach that can outcoach the top tier and recruit great talent to UT.

All I expect is a team that plays hard. Florida made a lot of mistakes and tried to give us the game. The team didn't capitalize on those opportunities. With that said, I'd be excited for 6 wins and a bowl, which is a realistic goal. And if they don't get those 6 wins, well then thats on the coaching staff. Just look at what James Franklin did his first year at Vandy, where he actually had very little talent. His teams played hard, they lost to Arkansas 31-28 the same Arkansas team the kicked the crap out of our Vols 49-7. So, coaching can clearly over come a lack of talent.

Forget expectations. They mean absolutely nothing.

Look at the play on the field. Dumb coaching decisions cost us the game today. Or at least dumb coaching decisions made it very hard for our team to win.
