Expectations.

Seriously. Let me say this. On the ball that slipped out of Petermans hand and went 5 yards or so and was intercepted. Why do you even call a pass play at that point. We hadn't done anything in the passing game, the ball was on the 27, it was like 3rd and 11, you're down 10-7, points is a premium especially with an anemic offense. Why not just run it and try to kick a field go to tie the game at that point. I think that would have left 5 min or so till half time. I am very frustrated with some of the in game decisions being made.

If we would have moved the chains or scored all would have been great. I think we would have still had a good chance at the feild goal.

It is almost like people stick their heads into the sand and refuse to understand; this is a NEW coaching staff; this is a team that did not make it to a bowl game last year.

You must control you expectations. We are not a team who is going to alleviate all your concerns in the first or second difficult game. Butch is recruiting well, please wait and see what his boys do.

You guys (not all of you) are falling all over your selves to destroy this coaching staff. Give them a chance. And I do not mean one game or 5 games. Give them a chance... a season to fix this. It is going to take a while. ...Anyway Go Vols regardless. or for you guys who don't care about vocabulary.... irregardless

4 wins there are the expectations

your problem is thinking Butch is a great coach.
No. I am very much wait and see on that. I do expect however that it will take a great coach to take UT where we all want to see the Vols go. I am looking for reasons... signs even... to believe Jones is that guy.

that has not been determined yet and was not great when he was hired. if you felt he was, your bad. if you didn't think he was great, you need to temper expectations until he proves it one way or the other.
Expectations don't change.

I have no power. I'm just a fan and not a rich or influential one. But I believe UT's approach must be just as ruthless as UF's was with Zook. HC shows signs of improving the program in tangible ways and wins games... or the next guy gets his shot.

Great coaches do not become great in game one of their coaching life

Game one? This is Jones' 7th year as a HC.

Until the right coach emerges... not saying yet that it isn't Jones... just that the difference will be a coach that can outcoach the top tier and recruit great talent to UT.

i can honestly say i will die before the vols win another sec championship. it is pretty sad.

then you did not approve of his hire, right? you didn't think he was great when hired so what reason does anyone have to believe he will ever be great??

Tennessee can't hire a great coach. Won't spend that type money and there are only a few at college level that might fit that. Outside of Saban, I'm not sure I think there is another great one?

you have suggestions on great coaches that Tennessee could get??

That's the whole problem. Assuming that there was a coach that was top tier, I don't think UT would ever spend the money. The administration seems to be ok with 60K to 80K fans in the stands.
