Experts pick SEC finishes

Typical as of late...... might I remind everyone these people are guessing. I recall back in 06, I think, that College GameDay did their picks the day the first Saturday was here and 3 of the 4 picked us to win the Crystal trophy.... and yet this was the year we began to fold. You never know.. I say win em all.... at least make a concerted effort:)

Go Vols

My coworker, an avid Clemson fan, asked me to make a bold prediction for the upcoming season.
I said, "SC wins the national championship." I didn't say that just to tick him off. I meant it.

Nice to see Vandy returning to their place in the minds of CFB reporters. Now if we can just get back there.

I think AU is going to be a disappointment this year and I would love Mizzou to be a disappointment as well. Having UT finish 4th in the SECe would be a great surprise and a huge reward for the hard work and dedication of the players and coaches. GBO.

UGA and South Carolina should be better than us if we're just looking at it on paper talent wise. We beat one of those teams and came close to beating the other. We're better at skill positions on offense, better at linebacker, probably better at QB this year as well. Our lines are questionable.

UF is anyones guess what that team will be this year. All the talent in the world but very unfocused, undisciplined. They do love to beat us though so even if they're down they'll bring their A-game versus us.

Looks like a bunch of safe picks from a bunch of sports writers who, for the most part, aren't any more knowledgeable than the average fan. And most of what they put out there is designed to not draw attention to that fact.

Anyone who is picking Mizzou to finish well again is basing their prediction solely off last year. There is NO reason to think Mizzou will even be competitive this year.

All these guys can do is go by history and what information they are given by the coaches for the upcoming season. I'm sorry that some of you people are mad that these guys dont consult your "expertise and insider information" before they make their predictions.

I mean seriously, who the hell would go so far out on a limb and say that the Vols are going to finish any higher than 4th or 5th? They would have absolutely no grounds to make such a prediction and in all probability would be setting themselves up to lose credibility.

After all, its just a PREDICTION, not a PROPHECY. These guys are generally pretty correct. If they are wrong, its usually because of some massive injury situation which cannot be foreseen that causes a major imbalance to the normal rank-order of things.

I dont know what you want. do you want a guy to come out and say they predict Tennessee to finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd? And what reasoning would they have to give for that prediction that would not make them look totally asinine to the rest of the sporting nation?

These are not "safe" picks. They are "consensus" picks. From what anybody can see, this is how it should shake out barring any severe injury situations which nobody is capable of predicting.

Is finishing fourth out of seven considered "well"?

I think they are pretty spot on with the prediction.

I MIGHT put UT ahead of them just because if we can play them in Knoxville and beat them then we MIGHT finish ahead of them if we dont totally blow a game that we should win. But Tennessee has to prove it to me first. Missouri has beaten us twice in a row. I think that earns them the benefit of the doubt.

Seems pretty simple to me. We need to beat UF and Mizzou to move up in the east. Could be our year CBJ just needs to Git'R Done.
