Eyebrow-raising post-game article out of Virginia

I starting getting upset at Kelly because she didn't call a time-out in the game, to even challenge the officials. What good is accomplished if you still have all of your time-outs
at the end of the game? The officials wouldn't even talk to her. Assumed there were ACC officials.

In the 4th period, her strategy might have been to force VaTech to use all their time outs earlier than us as the game seemed it could go to the wire, also to keep running their players to a greater fatigue level by not stopping the clock even more, and to keep our momentum in the last five or so minutes. Just watching the game in the 1H it appeared to me we could use our depth and rotation better than they could and it could pay off late in the game fatigue and maybe foul wise. As the game progressed in the 2H, I kept wondering why we didn't run them even more after a defensive rebound; several Techsters seemed a bit gassed at times.
We won, coach's time out strategy worked. I'm happy.

The cultivation of our depth is starting to pay off. Miles gives us an option of two point guards, that's a big deal. Puckett gives us another option at both the three and the four. During Rae's absence, that's huge. Green gives us another option at the five. Darby will continue to be an option on the wing after Rae returns. Looking good.

12-0 runs tend to get you beat. Composure, effort and confidence tend to help you win. Go figure.

I thought they gave credit to UT but they also recognized their own failings. Would you rather have a bunch of players saying “I played my best and can’t improve, they were just better”. They are aware of what they need to work on.
I know a lot of you think Burrell is our best player but IMO Key will determine how far this team goes. She doesn’t score a lot but she creates a lot problems for the other teams offense.
