If any one of these teams fail this season, or, better yet, a combination of them have lackluster seasons they are very likely towards coaching changes would could present us with a great opportunity to raid some quality players late in the game.

Georgia especially is something to watch closely. Our recruiting in that state has become a top priority and Richt hitting the road could mean great things in terms of Drew, Crowell, etc....

All of this is contingent on us making some surprising strides forward this season and showing recruits that we are headed back on the up and up.

Should be a fun season to watch on many different levels when thinking of all the recruiting story lines and implications.

Can't wait!

South Carolina will let Spurrier have a swan song. he is the most successful coach they have had in a long time. i have a odd feeling they are gonna compete for the east with Florida this year. now Georgia and LSU I agree. I think it would be easier to get kids out of Louisiana since Dooley has ties in that state.

It would probably take a losing season for LSU or Georgia to make a change this year. They won't be THAT bad.

And Spurrier will only leave South Carolina on his terms. They'll never have the guts to fire him.

All 3 of those coaches are clearly under the gun. For once we are not the ones being looked at for a coaching change. Glad to see that the traditions are being restored here too. GO VOLS!

The tradition I care about being restored is winning. Only time will tell if that will happen under this staff.

You nailed it when you said we have to MOVE FORWARD. Highly recruited kids care about winning. You wanna get on their list? Start by impressing them and their family/friends......and then throw in some winning to close the deal.

Heard that story before...

Somebody picks them every year, and hopes that they win the East and then looks smart. Every year.

They will be the best team in the state of South Carolina. That's it.

I understand where you're coming from, but what if UGA or LSU brings in a big time coach and their recruiting is benefited out of it ? I still think if one is fired we (UT) will benefit some but it could benefit them as well...

Maybe. But, that's one thing you have to say @ CMR, he's loaded that team with in-state talent every singe year. We just need some of it.

Would be freaking awesome to steal away a few Georgia guys if Richt was to get fired. Ray Drew comes to mind.

Agree. I'd rather have UGA and LSU fail to meet expectations for two or three years, but keep both coaches on board.

Would give UT time to replenish the roster and improve the level of talent. Plus, hopefully win some games against them. It could have the desire effect on UT recruiting while setting them back.

Spurrier won't be fired from SC....ever....UGA would have to have a losing season and even then I don't see Richt being let go that quick.....LSU on the other hand, if they finished with a losing record I could see Les being let go

I prefer that UGA does just good enough for Richt to stay on based on the equity argument, kind of like the last few years of Fulmer's tenure. If Richt is fired, I am convinced that they will get Muschamp which will excite their fanbase and make the Vols look clownish when the Dawgs hire a coach who turned down UTK a year earlier. 7 or 8 wins and a lackluster bowl game is what I want to see for UGA.

people are missing the whole point in this thread.....If Miles, Rict, or Spurrier have terrible seasons, we don't want them to be fired. I for one, want Miles to stay at LSU as long as he can. As mentioned before, we don't want some new coach to come in and steal kids. It's much easier to recruit against a guy who is not fired because you can play the card he's on the hot seat, he's had all this talent and hasn't one, ect. We don't want these guys fired, especially if they have down years with all the talent on their teams.

I would consider anything less than 4 or less loses for LSU a great year considering the factors. For Les to keep his job improvement in the offense will have to move up to the middle of the pack in the SEC maybe 4th-8th. I would think Les would be gone if the offense is 10th or worse in the SEC. IMHO

As bad as I hate to say it, because I absolutely despise Georgia, I think they might surprise some people this year. Not sure why, but I just have a bad feeling they are going to have a good year despite breaking in a RS freshman QB and moving to a 3-4 Defense. I really hope I'm wrong because I can't stand them.

I think LSU loses 4 or 5 games, maybe more, simply due to Les Miles pathetic sideline management and the fact he is over rated and just can't coach.

I think South Carolina will be solid. Whether they are or not, Spurrier will leave there when he chooses. He will never be fired.

LSU will be losing 3-5 games this year and it doesn't matter who the coach is.

Probably the hardest schedule I have ever seen plus young team plus 2 defensive coordinators in 3 years.

6 or more losses = Les is in trouble
5 losses = ok year, Les on hot seat
4 losses = good year
less than 4 losses = great year
less than 3 losses = super great year

My guess 4 losses (3 SEC/ 1 non-conference), who knows, should be an interesting year.

LSU won't have the talent development from the 2009/2010 and the 2011 classes until around 2012 IMHO. To me the 2010 and 2011 classes will be great if we can get a quarterback that can play.
