but I'm getting a kick out of the outlandish reaction to the loss yesterday. Did Tennessee lose to a smarter, tougher team in a halfcourt game? Yes, isn't the fist time it's happened on Pearl's watch and it won't be the last. Might happen at Georgia. However, the idea that this team is going to completely fall off the map and miss the NCAA Tournament is a bit much. Memphis lost to UMASS yesterday. Kansas has played some awful games on the road the last couple of years. The only people who should be in panic mode are those who were silly enough to think this team had a shot of reaching Indianpolis. They win a bunch of SEC games, get a reasonable NCAA seed, then get killed by the first team with decent guards they play. It's who they are.

Hat, I have stewed on this all day. Do you think it is Pearl or does he just not have the leadership like Dane, Lofton and Smith provided. Tyler is clearly not "THE GLUE" Pearl claims to be. I hope Tobias and Mcrae are tough kids that can take on leadership roles because we dont have a guy that can come out on the floor and be an extension of the coach in my opinion. What do you think?

Wow, cant believe you wrote this. I am officialy starting to change my mind on your opinions. The postgame report and some level headed thinking. I take back what I was thinking of saying to you at one time!

I agree hat.

I think the team still makes the NCAAT. But as far as getting past the first round...definitely not seeing that. But some of the negative reactions are drive-bys anyway, so it's not like they count. I think they count about as much as the ones who can only reply "Where were we before Pearl/I guess you want Buzz back!"

I just can't understand why Pearl seems to have such an aversion to our bigs playing like bigs. If the shots aren't landing then why not call a timeout and tell our guys to use their athleticism and get to the basket.

Good things happen on the rare occasions that we try to drive to the hoop but we only do it a few plays a game. When we are struggling, Hopson should be told to drive to the basket on every play and draw a foul, score an easy layup or kick it out for the open 3.

The sky is falling crowd is a bit much. I am disappointed that we are no better than a top 20 team, that we will be second in the east to KY and get into the NCAA where we could win a game or two. If we exceed that, I will be surprised, but that is what I expect. Let's have some fun, enjoy the games and we will win a bunch at home and a few on the road.

We need a top notch PG, an outside shooter and at least one player that can shoot free throws. Now if we drive to the basket, get fouled, the other team will hold us scoreless or to 1 point.

I got a kick out of CKO owning CBP. The Pearl lovers kept saying how much better he was than O'Neil.

sounds more like a fair assessment to me,im I happy we are not true contenders for a FF hell no.Im I happy we are much better than we where years ago,,of course.Bruce has done a lot of good things here.Seems like his potential might be filled,,maybe. What can we do as fans but cheer them on,***** when they loose, cheer when they win.Well we can swap opinions on the net,,though that is just for our amusement, dont mean a hill of beans when it comes to how the programs do on the field or on the court.

Out coached the whole way through. They made us beat them from outside and we couldnt do it. We never adapted, this is a more speed oriented team. If we take it to them inside & kick out the 10 footers we have a chance. They tried to go to the paint and had it handed to them. Making free throws is a biggy too.

just so everybody knows I called this out aimmediately after getting home from the Wyoming bball game. I got blasted for saying we are SEVERELY OVERRATED and have no prayer to reach a final four. I mean come on there have been a handful of superior teams to this one that have fallen short of the elite 8 so forget the final four. That is unless we are talking Madison Square Garden for the NIT:banghead2:

my reaction may seem like an over reaction only because this forum hasn't heard my concerns about Pearl before this season.

the problems we're seeing with this team right now have been problems of Pearl's system from day 1. they just didn't show up as often on the scoreboard and didn't appear as obvious because of Lofton, Jujuan, and Dane. I don't think Jujuan Smith even knows how to step on the court and not get in someone's face and give 110%.

yeah, we'll probably win 20, maybe even play KU and UK close once, and we'll probably make the dance. but i no longer have any doubts, Pearl cannot take us into elite status. i don't even think he can get us into a Final 4. Elite status is surely impossible under him. if elite status is the goal of the AD, then we thank Pearl for getting us some attention and find a guy who can beat the other elite programs in march.

although he may stick around for another couple years... the "Bruce Pearl is gonna win National Championships for UT Era" is over.

It would be nice if this team started clicking about SEC tourney time and rode it out through March and shocked everyone. haha stranger things have happend.

I don't think UGA, Auburn, or Arkansas is capable of playing with us. Other than that, all bets are off in the SEC.

I just really believe it's going to be a lot harder to win 10 conference games this year than people are making it out to be. Beating Memphis isn't going to qualify as a quality win as much as in recent memory, and Kansas....if we play them in single digits we should count that as a major victory.

The X's and O's on this team don't worry me as much as the make-up and attitudes. I just don't see any leadership and guys willing to step up and take over a game when they need to.

I've said before and I'll say again - I hope I am wrong.

So basically you think they'll do the same thing they've done for two years running. Same team, same coach, same results, yep that's the way i see it too.

The difference is this is a senior dominated team. I don't think we have ever been blown out by such a poor team since Pearl has been coach. No excuse for this performance.

I am not sure this team makes the tourney, right now unless they get it turned around, I see the NIT

Don't we say this every year?

Pearl's second year was the closest they came to this, almost beating Ohio St. I would say last year but that SECT Championship performance was so bad it's like it undid the fact they even made it there, and then they rode that performance to what we saw against Okie St.

I missed the game but was able to listen to parts of it on the radio and I have a few questions. I know that USC had no real depth to speak of, yet we seemed to play into their game plan and chucked up 3 after 3. Why didn't we try to go after their lack of depth by attacking it inside and get them into foul trouble?

I realize listening to parts of the game on the radio you miss quite a lot. It just sounded to me as we were out coached and all of our shortcomings were exposed almost perfectly.
