Far Be It From Me To Become The Voice Of Optimism...

I missed the game but was able to listen to parts of it on the radio and I have a few questions. I know that USC had no real depth to speak of, yet we seemed to play into their game plan and chucked up 3 after 3. Why didn't we try to go after their lack of depth by attacking it inside and get them into foul trouble?

I realize listening to parts of the game on the radio you miss quite a lot. It just sounded to me as we were out coached and all of our shortcomings were exposed almost perfectly.

I ask the question every game, why we don't pound the ball inside. My only guess is that our players are soft and our coach allows them to be soft and jack up 3s rather they hit them or not.

I'd be shocked if the Vols spiraled out of control and missed the tournament altogether, but like others I definitely don't expect them to really accomplish anything of substance in the tournament, again.

Honestly, with how they look right now, a Sweet 16 appearance would probably be asking for too much.

Didn't CBP say on the Jim Rome show that this was an NCAA final four team? Of course that was on Friday before the USC game

:drive2::stooges::bottom:we are a train wreck of a severely overrated team. All our players are like the stooges and we get out butts beat on a regular basis by EVEN OR SUPERIOR talent. We never outcoach anyone with better bball iqs

I think you're spot on here. The problem with our (all?) fans is that every year is going to be a National Championship. Then, when a couple games go wrong, the season is a wash and we need to clean house.

If guys would stop setting unrealistic goals, we wouldn't go on suicide watch after a loss. It's too bad we can't give Lithium and shock therapy to the board.

Most good teams endure bad losses every year. This is what makes college basketball so fun to watch. We just happened to be one of the first.

Right now, I don't care what the causes to our losses were. I evaluate any team's success in April, not in December.

Honestly, I could care less how far we go. I like the tourney appearances, and a national championship would be phenomenal...but what I like most out of a team is heart and grit. This team lost theirs somewhere along the way the past few years. The year we had Lofton and Smith(Heck even Chism and Tyler were playing hard nosed, physical basketball that year) was my favorite year of UT basketball ever, because in '07-'08 NO TEAM outworked us. Also after watching Bruce coach the '08 Memphis game(watched it on ESPN classic today) even he has lost some fire about him, what happened? My college team is sucking hardcore this year(1-8 about to go get dominated against Florida State, I presume) but I will never ever not support this team because for every single second of each game they are playing hard and to the best of their abilities. Talent is a great thing to have, but is wasted without determination and heart.

I agree, but coaching is not what it needs to be to take us to the next level,or ponder this. How many players on this team are NBA material? Then I think about my own statement,,are the big recruits getting coached up,or just playing about the same every year as when they got here.:pardon:

Unless you count the postseason.
