I know it was the first game, but I was expecting a little bit faster pace last week to be honest.

I watched the replay and did a little bit of counting, I was getting around 14-20 seconds between plays. Pretty speedy.

Actually, a fast-paced offense is only good if you've got a good offense--meaning an offense that is adept at making first downs, and thus can keep the pressure on the defense. Do we have such an offense? It's too early to say. If you are not good at putting first downs together, if you are going three and out, then your fast-paced offense can absolutely hurt your defense, which has less time to rest than normal. We're all used to seeing Manning and Brady run fast-paced offenses in the NFL, and some teams in college that have good spread offenses--but that doesn't mean everybody should be doing it. It's possible that a fast-paced offense can get a defense on its heels and thus create more first downs, but that is in theory. In any case, I'm not convinced that we have the horses to run a fast offense--but we'll find out when we play our SEC rivals.

Am I mistaken to say this is where Worley fits in best? In a fast paced CBJ offense?

I agree. I thought it should be faster. I didn't see much difference between our tempo this year and last year. I want us to pick it up. Butch was unhappy with our first half tempo.

Butch will never be satisfied with our tempo. Never. It's called motivation...

CBJ says he wants to run 90 offensive plays a game. Any idea how many plays we ran against AP?

It was fast first half. People don't get the fact we slowed down in the second half to milk the clock. Football is new to them evidently.

dis team turrble. 3 points scroed in 2nd aganst AP. WKU beats us by 24. AP dun ajust at halve n we didnt scroe mor than 3.

15 sec betwen plays is slo. i play ncaa 14 with 10 sec.

What does everybody think about the fake injury rule that the ncaa is talkin about? There saying a lot of teams are faking injures to slow down the up tempo offences does anyone think they will be able to do anything about it? I was watching the Georgia vs clemson game and it looked like a bunch of the Georgia players were fakin injures to slow the tigers down.

Between the front 5 on the OL and one tight end, you are talking about moving ONE TON of Beef around in a very short time. First half tempo last week was a huge improvement over last several decades. We might can go faster but our boys up front will tire.

UGA was almost definitely faking injuries in that game. .. except the WR on the chest bump season ender.
It would most seem like it should be unsportsmanship.
The problem is it would be so subjective. You do not want discourage player that are hurt to stay on the field.
The question is, what is fair. 5,10,replay the down, 1st down ... ?
How is stopping play with a flag for the defence stopping play for an "injury " going to help the situation?
My advise would be to let it be. These things will work themselves out.
The only thing about the fake injuries is it gives sick saben ammo for his"it causes injuries " argument.
It has risks to team using uptempo in that if they go 3 and out.
It will sort itself out. If Huge defenders cannot keep up with the tempo, it should lead to smaller more versatile defenders. Smller huge guys mean less injuries.
When people try to mess with the rules is what causes unnatural progression of finding a new way to get by the rules.

There was a huge difference lol. Last yr we no huddled but bray had to look over and get the call after Chaney read the D. Last Saturday the first team was moving very fast. Not sure what you were watching. When peterman was in it slowed big time

I don't know what the rule would actually do but it sounds like it would pi$$ off Saban so I'm in favor of it.

First couple drives we were consistently snapping the ball with 25 or more seconds left on the play clock. After that it did slow down.
