Favorite American Cities

Wow. No love for Vegas?

I've never been, but want to go.

Vegas of 15-20 years ago was the best, but it's gone downhill. Food was cheap, drinks were free, and hotels were cheap. I loved walking up and down The Strip. If you weren't gambling(I love the sports book), there were a multitude of shows to see. Just outside the city is Red Rock Canyon, which is beautiful. And if you wanted to be the ultimate tourist, you could sign up for a day trip to the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam. There was always something to do.

Now though, prices have skyrocketed and it's harder to stretch your dollar there.

I liked Seattle. I rented a car and got out to see some of the scenery, like Mt. Ranier. Also drove up to Vancouver(this was before you needed a visa to go to Canada). Very pretty up there. I rode a ferry over to the island and that might have been the most breath-taking scene I've ever experienced. The ocean stretches out and snow-covered peaks erupt in the background. It was beautiful.

I lived in Charleston as a kid. I loved it back then, but I haven't been back in forever so I have no idea how it's changed.

Yeah, I used to work for Dex Imaging. They're a sponsor of the Preds and the CEO is part owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Really cool dude.

You ever go to Pass-A-Grille beach? It's tucked away behind the Don CeSar so mostly just locals know about it.
what did you do for DEX? you got toner in your blood?

I was a Systems Engineer. I networked printers and mailing equipment for customers.
ah, a clean tech

I did a stint with a local copier company. Was on the admin side but worked with the service techs so I was close to the toner heads without having to get my hands dirty. My last year(s) there were when digital was starting to take over the analog copier world. Connecting them to the network was cutting edge. I really enjoyed what I did so I guess I still got toner in my blood.

Would you care to list the church, I know it would give you away.

I apologize, but I'm not going to do that. I don't mean that in any mean spirited way at all, but like I've said in other posts, Volnation is a place where I can be just a regular Joe. I have to live my life like I'm walking on eggshells, because it is so easy to offend people, especially the many that are looking for a reason to be offended. It is not an easy way to live. That us why I like VN so much. It is where I can just be one of the guys.

Say high to Raylan.

Haha..everybody here hates that show. Probably because it is too close to the truth. I love it here, but it is a hard place to make a living. Drug use and poverty are as rampant here as any show ever portrayed.

That's the truth, Bell county has become the same.

Gulf sunset off Indian Rocks Beach last week. Taken with Samsung G5 and cropped out my family in the editor. No other editing like tone, contrast, brightness done. Just pic size so now it fits my phone as wallpaper.

I love the middle Florida gulf beaches for their sunsets. Indian Rocks rocks the 'old Florida' feel. But it's starting to lose it as condos force their way in.

Agreed on the middle FL gulf beaches. There's some awesome locations in there.

We were on Boca Grande this weekend and the tarpon were unbelievable. Shark capital of the world, too.

I've never been past Jacksonville, and I can't wait to see the gulf side of farther down in Florida.

I doubt you'll be disappointed. The gulf beaches of SW Florida are some of the best in the country. I hope you have a great visit.

Before you go, read up on Savannah's history. It's among the oldest cities in the United States and was spared destruction during the Civil War. Amazing place. Ghost tours are fun .. take your wife, she'll hold tight ...heh heh

Oh, and the low country seafood boils out around Tybee Island are ... well I'll just say my mouths waterin right now. Best was The Crab Shack. Eat inside or bugs eat you. Cats were everywhere but don't bother you. You can't hardly eat it all, but you want to.
