Favorite and least favorite opposing SEC stadiums

Best far and away was LSU (especially since I was there for the '05 Monday Night upset). Their stadium is nice, huge, and easily the loudest (on par with Neyland). Florida has a good gametime environment but the stadium is nothing special. I've been to every stadium but Kentucky, but they don't really play football there.

Best seating for visitors too, no?

Been to Commonwealth and the swamp, but none can touch Neyland. The fans are righteous and proud. They make this field rock!!!

Favorite opposing stadium:
Neyland, with Jordan-Hare a close second. Neyland's location trumps all, and Jordan-Hare's atmosphere reminds me of The Swamp. I think it's louder than Death Valley (either one).

Least Favorite:
Vaught-Hemingway in Oxford. The only decent scoreboard is directly behind where the visiting fans sit, and they don't show replays of anything that goes against the home team.

Underrated:
Razorback Stadium

Overrated:
Commonwealth Stadium

As Expected:
Dudley Field

I think it's louder than Death Valley (either one).I was disappointed with the atmosphere inside JHS. Then again, I witnessed one of the worst college football games in SEC history. An offensive 14-12 matchup. The "3rd and out" game. Also blasting way too much music through busted speakers. That said, nicest fans and very nice campus.

Vaught-Hemingway in Oxford. The only decent scoreboard is directly behind where the visiting fans sit, and they don't show replays of anything that goes against the home team.Yea, if it weren't for the girls and The Grove, Oxford wouldn't be as desireable.

Underrated:
Razorback StadiumIt was ok. I had a horrible experience with their fans so I just got a bad taste in my mouth for Fayetteville.

I had the misfortune of visiting Jordan-Hare in '01 and '06, so I've been there when it really gets rocking. Ditto for LSU in '97 and UT '98 and '04. I agree the piped in music is lame, but the crowd noise at Auburn was consistent for 60 mintues.

Razorback Stadium had the feel of an older NFL venue with the retail shops in the north end zone and the big jumbotron. We didn't encounter any over the top Arkansas fans. By and large they were all pretty cordial, which we found strange because we'd just lost to Ole Miss the week before.

I've only been to 3; Neyland, Commonwealth, and Vanderbilt Stadium.

Neyland I obviously love, though I must admit due to the "down" football the place isn't as hoping as it was in the 90s. Hopefully that will change soon.

Commonwealth - I must say I was very surprised. I figured since UK is a basketball school that Commonwealth would be about as hoping at Vanderbilt Stadium (more on them in a minute), but it was NOTHING like Vandy. The 2 times I've been UK was bad (2 wins and 3 wins) but the Cat fans didn't let the UT fans outnumber them. It was still about 80%-20% UK fans to UT fans. And they were loud. Granted at this time UT was basically their bowl game, but still, definitely a much better football atmosphere than I expected.

Vanderbilt Stadium - I don't even have to go any other SEC stadium to know this one is the worst. First of all, it only fills up in SEC games and with fans that travel (UT, UK, Alabama, Florida, etc.). Almost every SEC home game for them in most years is another home game for the visitor. I know Vandy stinks and all, but you can't get 40,000 Vandy fans each week? And the ones that are left don't show up until the middle of the first quarter, and leave early even if they are winning.

Then the stadium itself. I will say it looks a lot better now that they've done some renovations on the place, but it's still ugly. It looks like a glorified high school stadium. And it seems like the place has like 3 bathrooms. The place has no tradition and every time I go you can tell they are grasping at straws to figure out something to do. They copy Titans' games with all their fan participation, and the best thing they've come up with is playing a foghorn when they score. Wow. And seriously...is Vanderbilt Stadium the BEST name you can come up with?

The only thing Vanderbilt can get 40,000 of is dollars per year to attend.

My opinion on the Swamp is a little skewed because the last time I went there, we won. So I came away very impressed with the stadium because it was filled with sad faced people.

Vandy is by far the worst stadium. No explanation needed. Mississippi State comes in a close second.
