Wrong. Enjoying an alcoholic beverage does not make you an alcoholic. Even binge drinking doesn't mean you are an alcoholic. Alcoholism is a physical/mental dependency on alcohol and its continued use in spite of dire negative consequences.

Is someone on here an alcoholic. Probably. Are most of the people who drink alcohol and post on this board alcoholics? Absolutely not.

At the Country Club in the small town I live in, 9 hole course and a bar, the signature drink is Ski and Crown Royal. The first time I saw one being mixed I was complaining about ruining good Crown Royal but it is an excellent cocktail.

True VFL's don't need beer, alcohol or a buzz IMO

They watch the game like true men. They go through bad times sober because it makes them tougher.

Probably more like 5 or 6 hours. Start hanging out at the party pad about an hour early, and stay about 2 hours afterwards hanging out. Probably drink 9 or 10 during the 3 hour game span. I'm telling you....if the game is close, my hands are shaking like a leaf!!!

Popcorn Sutton's and sweet tea with a sprig of mint if I'm feeling fancy.

There's an embargo on border trash imports at my house on Saturdays, but I do enjoy Pappy and Basil.

On the 'should we sell beer at Neyland" thread, a few days ago I posted that my pre-game tailgating always includes sipping either Blanton's Bourbon or Silver Patron in Circle Park...

Anyone else having trouble getting Blanton's? Here in NC we have ABC controlled stores and for about ten months their distributors simply couldn't get any Blanton's. I drove over the state line into South Carolina and searched two stores there. No Blanton's.

My son lives in AZ and came to NC for a visit in June. He brought 3 bottles of Blanton's as a gift. Apparently no shortage of it out west.

People who don't drink alcohol are more likely to think that everyone who does is an alcoholic.

I drink a LOT in the summer. In a full weekend at the lake I will finish a 1.75l of Makers Mark and my wife will finish a case and a half of beer + some moonshine-fireball-assorted shots. Same for a game weekend. Its how we blow off steam from a long week of dealing with people at work.

Thing is I do not drink at home, during the week or pretty much all winter outside a social setting. Calling a large percentage of people in any subset alcoholics is just not right imo. People can drink and drink to excess on a regular basis yet not be alcoholics. Why do so many non-drinkers not understand this?

How can this not help to blow off steam?

Weekends in the cove are what get me through the week at work and there is a LOT of drinkin lol. Just not many alcoholics!
