Favorite Beverage On Game Day

Is it bad to sip bourbon on UT game day?

It's never a bad time to sip bourbon. That's the one thing our neighbors to the north get absolutely right. Give me a good bourbon over a great scotch any day.

My gameday is usually some combination of the following.

Beer: Sam Adams Octoberfest, or maybe something lighter if it's a hot day.
Mixed drink: Jack and Coke
Straight liquor: Maker's Mark

After a big win is when I'll break into a finer bourbon. Woodford Reserve usually, Pappy van Winkle if I can.

I was also a fan of Belle Meade until I learned that it comes from a liquor factory in Indiana and is not actually distilled by the company in Nashville. A lot of the small batch craft bourbons/spirits on the market all come from the same place in Lawrenceburg, IN. If its not distilled in Tennessee or Kentucky I'm not interested.

Very true. A lot of those are bought and then poured in their own barrels for a while and sold. I agree with your last sentence wholeheartedly.

I went overboard on that in college one night many years ago and can't even smell it without heaving now.

Southern's something of a deceiving byatch to be sure but it's been my go to forever. Jameson makes an appearance now and then. Gentleman Jack clobbered me a couple of times the same way and, while heresy to say in the Volunteer State, i avoid it.

Usually have Sam Oktoberfest outside the stadium or Kirin Ichiban if TV viewing.

Founders- Dirty Bastard Ale
Last couple of years after halftime it quickly shifts to a lot of jack and very little coke.

SoCo and Seagrams 7 are 100% no-go's for me. Horrible aching ribs experiences with each of them.

Ghost River when it's hot out.

Makers and water with a splash of Sprite when it cold.

Dip of Copenhagen Straight for added effect.

One of my favorite Utah beers:
