FCS Football

I hope our band plays the Eyes of Texas for them since their band took a knee and won't be there. Think about all of their "woke" football players in the fetal position when they hear that song. Herman would not have enough kisses to give them to recover.

Figured I would bump this thread instead of starting a new one, but I’ve started keeping up with FCS football more the past couple years. I especially like seeing in-state teams do well. Austin Peay, ETSU and UT Martin are due for pretty good years I think. I don’t know as much about Chatt, but they won their first game so hopefully they’ll keep the ball rolling.

Love the idea of FCS being discussed!!
Let’s Go Peay!

UT Martin lost a close one last night. Looks like both QB’s played well judging from the box score, especially Missouri State’s. He threw 5 touchdowns on only 19 completions, although I don’t know if that’s a testament more to his skills or against Martin’s defense

UTM QB is really good.

Winn. I think he’s from Dresden TN.

Shoutout to Holy Cross, Incarnate Word, Weber State, and EKU for winning games against FBS opponents today. And Gardner-Webb for nearly pulling the upset against what’s been one of the better G5 teams recently in Coastal Carolina

Chattanooga’s getting beat 24-0 by Illinois, but their running back (Ailym Ford) looks really solid. Should be well north of 100 yards by the end of the game.

Kennesaw State plays Wofford on Saturday evening i think the Owls win the rest of their games finishing 9-2 and getting an Automatic Bid to the FCS Playoffs as ASUN Champions.

I hope ACU can play them a good game. Definitely opposite styles of offense. It will be good for the guys to visit West Point, if they are allowed, because I did.

Spent 2 years at ACU back in the first installment of Rex Lamberti and the Abilene Air Force. The Rex Lamberti back story was tragic. But, he endured. Came back roughly 7 years later and finished his eligibility and degree and did something with himself. In his day in the mid-80's he was a top blue chip QB in Texas out of Odessa-Permian and ended up at ACU and went thru a tragic accidental death of his fiance. What followed was suspension fueled by alcohol and low grades. He was eligible to return after a year but it took him 6 to get squared away and on a path. Led all NCAA QB's in 1986 TD passes. 2nd I think on ACU all-time passing. Could be 3rd behind Billy Malone and Mitchell Gale. Has since done quite well and living a good life and meaningful career.

ACU, for it's size and progression from NAIA to Dii and now full FCS has sent quite a few young men to the pros. And the track team back in the 80's was mind blowing. No less than 5-6 olympic medalists and/or record holders at any given time in my day. THeir last year in Dii was capped with a 96 point offensive explosion in a playoff game. ACU has become the FSU of their era. Play anybody, anywhere to build the program. They regularly schedule all the big boys, and will be hitting all P5 texas schools in the coming seasons.

My daughter goes to Missouri State. She must have texted me 50 times during that Arkansas game.

We've been down for a game this year and have another planned. It is a great atmosphere, and we enjoy it greatly. They haven't played as well as it was thought they would, but it is still a great time.
