Fear From The CBJ Hire

Why would anyone else have been anti Dooley? They were all beating the piss out of us. They loved him. Really he should have been listed as runner up on mvp to the sec right behind Joker.

Don't know how true it is, but I read that Saban sent a plane from LSU to MSU to pick up his assistant coaches...and none of them got on board.

I don't know about the plane from LSU to MSU, but you are correct that none of his assistants went with him to LSU.

Anytime you hire a new coach it comes with a risk of failure. Jon Gruden and Nick Saban if hired at UT would come with some risk of failure. A big time, well known coach allows you to minimize those risk. A lesser know, lesser experienced coach as is CBJ comes with a greater risk. Can he be successful here? Sure he can. He just has more odds stacked against him. Here's to hoping we get lucky for a change.

He may not be a Saban but I don't think he's a Dooley
either. Ah, the old wait and see again.

GO VOLS!

There is one Nick, and BUTCH is on his way, we will seek and destroy that team from the south and im not talking about the dogs, given time Butch will pinch Nicks head of.:dance2:

It strikes me as odd that people's biggest complaint about Dooley when he was hired was he had a losing record as a HC. Now we hired a coach with not only a winning record but conference championships and the record doesn't count because it wasn't in the SEC.

I think he is a winner. The question is can he win against the other proven winners in the conference. I don't think we will be missing bowl games going forward.

Bama's biggest fear is the Cleveland Browns and SOON.... lol

Is that your only hope of beating Bama? You just got a new coach, do you not have faith that he can win against AL,Fl,GA, or LSU while facing their present coaches?

Our enemies would have loved for nothing more than to see us hire some no name coach. We hired a relevant coach from a good coaching tree and they can't stand the fact that there is a good chance we will be contenders again. This is why you see a bunch of fans from other teams say "sure he's a good coach but you didn't get Gruden har har har". Don't let it get to you, people should be happy it's like Colin cowherd said when certain teams are doing well its good for college football and Tennessee is one of those teams.

My non vol friends laugh and feel sorry for us. I don't know where this fear comes from. I mean let's be honest, even us true fans have no idea what to expect. It can only go up so most of you super pro butch supporters will praise his name and demand a street named after him if he wins 6, 7, or 8 games. I want us to win but for those that hated the grudenites for being delusional and in denial are the same people, for the most part, that can also be called delusional for thinking he will bring us back just bc of what he has said in press conferences and interviews. I want Tennessee to win and become great again but there is zero fear from other fans for a guy who was our plan "E." I hope he does well but until he puts the team on the field, I will hold off on the kiss a$$.

Seriously?

People fearing Butch Jones? People fearing UT?

That does not happen any longer. Troy would not even fear UT any longer. UK and vandy either.

It may come again, but nobody fears UT right now. Hopefully CBJ can change that.

This. We are irrelevant folks.

:lolabove:

I never stated any fear of beating the above and for the record I believe CBJ will have us back SOON..

The simple fact is once Saban leaves the land of pachyderm all bammers will be weeping just like they did for the lean years between Bryant and Saban. Oh and have no doubt he will leave it's just a matter of time. :whistling:

No doubt they will have a hard time getting a good coach to replace him if he decides to leave... they will probably have to go down to their 5th or 6th choice.

Most of the time, you make your own luck. The way to make our luck is to hire well, staff well, recruit well and play well. We've gone way down our list for HC, looted unranked Cincy's staff and are on our way to a Top 25 or 30 recruiting class, which means we'll be playing 3*s against our rivals' 4* and 5*s. The main thing to fear is that Neyland will be less than half orange on any given Saturday.

I'll have to admit it scared me when we announced that Butch Jones was our new coach....we desperately needed a Big Name Hire to salvage recruiting....I have indeed come to the realization that rebuilding this program will take an extended peroid of time because no Big Name Coach actually wanted to undertake this rebuilding project.....sadly.....it is what it is
